Hey guys, so I want to update my phone from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4, and I just want to know if ZiPhone 2.5 is going to be okay.
The story behind my phone:
It was originally a 1.1.2 OTB with bootloader 4.6, I used the hardware unlock method to downgrade the bootloader to 3.9 and then unlocked it that way (i don't remember what I used to unlock it). Right now as it sits, BL 3.9, FW 1.1.3.

I want to update to 1.1.4, is it as easy as restore to 1.1.4 in iTunes and run ZiPhone 2.5 and click "Do it All"?

Thanks

Don't take my word for it...but I think that is correct, minus you have to click it several times to get it to work if it freezes.

again...I could be really wrong.

Well, I did it, took me all of 10 minutes. Fuck that was awesome!

I'm running 1.12otb (jailbroken) with TurboSIM card. Can I just upgrade to 1.14 and use ziphone 2.5? I probably should take out the TurboSIM though?

take out your turbosim, and yes.

Anything "cooler" about 1.14 that would make it worth it to upgrade from 1.12 to 1.14?

mass texting, google maps "locate me" and other bug fixes

also, I heard iplus is safer than ziphone so use that if you are going to be downgrading your bootloader (1.1.2+ OTB)

If you're having that SMS out of order BS it seems to be fixed for me right now. I had 1 message that was out of order, the rest have been fine.

The only thing that annoys me is the times aren't correct on my received messages on sms, but besides that I'm fine.

Yeah like I was saying, that seems to be fixed in 1.1.4, so far I've only had 1 message that was 4 hours behind what it should have been. Annoying as fuck.

do you lose all your data when you upgrade then unlock again?

it depends, if you plug in your iphone it normally backs up your data, including, the music, text messages and phone numbers.. so before you upgrade... plug your phone into the computer and pull up itunes it should back it up

ziphone works perfectly for 1.1.4. just let my phone update through itunes, ran ziphone, all good.

I've read some bad things about ziphone, I also read that iPlus 2.0 is supposed to be the safest method of doing it... :dunno:

ziphone downgrades the baseband, but its not reversable.

with iplus 2.0 you can reverse the process if ever needed.

anytime u downgrade something that aint meant to be touched (ie the bootloader), doesnt matter what u use, downgrade to 3.9 or a 3.9 fakeblank, shit gets fuked up. sometimes this is the reason i loved my 4gb 1.0.2 out of the box phone over this 16gb (1.1.3 ootb) fucker.

Hey boys, i just used iplus 2.0 to unlock my phone...which worked pretty well and was quick...but i do have an issue with SMS and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

#1 ) Time stamp issue...its about 5hours behind.
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/how-to-iphone-sms-timestamp-fix-for-113-and-114/

(could be a fix, havent tried it yet)

#2 ) When I receive a text, and press ignore. It deletes it. So I cant even see it later on in the menu...anyone else have this issue, and fix you've seen?

^ are you on 1.1.4, i thought that the new firmware was supposed to fix this SMS issue, anyways that fix does address the issue i tried it myself on 1.1.3, after u install it will tell u something in russian just click ok, and restart phone 100% tested and working by ME.

as for your second issue, no clue, i guess every iphone is different :nut:

That fix is what causes the SMS not to appear in the actual phone itself. If you get a message from someone who is NOT in your SMS folder already (ie you don't have a convo going with them already), the SMS will be deleted automatically from your phone and you won't see it. It does fix the time issue though and no 1.1.4 does not change the time issue, (though it does make it a bit better)

^but he hasnt tried that fix yet......has he? :dunno:
BTW i thought that was one of the biggest things in 1.1.4 ( to fix this issue), apart from the white blank pages on safari?

EDIT: gave the reply/close popup a try on mine with the "fix", YEP indeed message is lost and does not show up in SMS when i click close (ignore).

Damn does this mean i gotta move up to 1.1.4 now?.....and you guys say this still wont fix the issue? iphone firmware at the moment :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

i was on 1.1.3 when i tried that fix and yeah i got the same issue...deleted messages...pretty weak. im updating to 1.1.4 and gonna go through the whole process again and see what happens.

^yo let me know what happens i might bump up to 1.1.4, been thinking about it for a while.

yeah so i updated. most of my contacts n shit got transfered over, gotta download all my apps again...no big deal.

i installed the timefix and looks like it solved the problem. I did a quick test:

- If I hit close on the blue box when a message comes, the little SMS icon wont show a #1 unread message, but when you go into it it'll show the contact and their message. ( This applies to even when there wasnt a on going convo earlier, i tried it both ways. one with a open convo and one with a clear inbox )

But on an unrelated topic, since updating to 1.1.4 is there customize/summerboard out for this? I WANT THEMES!!!!

arian_ma
03-26-2008, 11:58 PM
Summerboard should still work fine...right?
It was just the transition between 1.1.2->1.1.3 that had issues due to folders being moved around or something right?

tha_bandit
03-29-2008, 05:01 PM
^i also updated to 1.1.4, thax for info slick
old summerboard works (3.2) on 1.1.4, however some themes dont install properly use the summerboard fix under tweaks 1.1.3 category.

I used iLiberty (same as iPlus) after restoring from iTunes.

I had a 1.1.2 OTB and have had no issues so far.
