well i put on my roush kit today after a few months of sitting in a garage, even got to work in pinnacle internationals shop, plenty of room in a shop made for semi's.
sorry bout crappy quality i only had my phone to take pic's
it is a good day today.
I know cougars aren't too common on this site but i LOVE this kit. Next cosmetic mod is gonna have to be some rims

ya, next mod is gonna be some Eibach springs 1.2" drop in the front 1" in the rear. Its a daily driver for the nice weather months so I don't want to go too low.

looks amazing, especially for a cougar, and by that i mean not a lot of people choose this car as one to mod!
very nice, but id have to say you should try and lose the emblem in the grill! imo

iceberg65
05-10-2008, 01:48 PM
ya the emblem doesnt bother me so much, i cant just remove it or i would be left with a black circle. my option is to track down a wings west grill.....which are kinda overpriced in my opinion, they have to be painted too, and the red i have is a 3 stage metallic thats been discontinued, the paint shop said they couldnt guarantee a perfect match.

Damn but that's a big box. What does it weigh?
Like the rim choice with the red!

iceberg65

the box with subs is prolly about 70lbs the way its in there its really easy to take out to make room for large objects or for track days. not that my cars really fast its just fun.

I snapped a few more pics of the car today too.

LOL, I didn't expect that. That's pretty hot. I didn't really know what you could do with it, but damn you turned it out well. Probably best looking Merc.Coug. evar. Wheel colour and style work perfectly, great looking spoiler. Great job all around. Please don't paint or CF the hood (up to you though, did a hella job so far).

Sweet red 'angel eyes'... do those pass 'legally' as daytime running lights?

Dude, that's a great lookin' cougar!

I've always liked these cars, though their potential for modding seems pretty low given that not many of them are modded. Yours is pimp man!

iceberg65

wow thanks guys, as far as modding the cougar goes. its not common but compared to some of em Ive seen. mine would be considered lightly modded. The angel eyes are for show only as far as legality goes In Medicine Hat the cops are pretty lieniant tho and i leave em on from time to time for fun.

www.newcougar.org is the website that allowed me to do what I did, seeing what can be done allowed me to determine what I wanted and go for it. Found a good few parts there too.

There's one guy thats running around 550hp in his cougar (turbo 3.0 duratec) and another guy that has offered to custom fab a turbo kit for the zetec cougars that should be good for around 275 hp usable with stock internals with a ecu tune that he has used on his car.

My hood could use some paint tho.... its got a few little rock chips.

out of curiosity but is it legal to have red halo lights on the front?

as was discussing with some friends about this camaro in the US with red halo lights and they told me its illegal to have red light on the front

its illegal to have them turned on while driving. They are for show more then anything only cost me 30 dollars and some time so I went for it.

as for it looking like an accord.
the cougar does seem to share some qualities with the newer accords (06+ i believe)

Mercury did it first tho lol:poosie:

i can only make a suggestion, and this is from someone who hates those cars, drop it and get some wheel spacers, then it will be perfect

That's pretty nice. It was actually one of the few offerings from Ford that I liked. Good job.

Very nice choice of mods & color. Hard to make a cougar look good but you seemed to pull it off. Well done.

ya im gonna order springs as soon as i get paid after starting my new job, spacers are gona wait till after springs since i want to see if the wheel is gonna have to tuck into the wheel well a little bit.

thanks for being so positive guys I appriciate it. I cant wait to finish up cosmetics and start working on performance.

do you guys think i should go for springs or coilovers for lowering, for springs i would go with some eibach pro kit springs, but i may be able to get some Matrix coilovers with struts for a good price too

Ive heard of the brand Matrix before but dont really know if they make a good product

I hear Mercury Cougar, aftermarket rims wing and spoiler and was expecting a LOLZ thread.

Pretty clean looking car man...
Go for the eibach's, especially if you don't want to lose the comfortable ride.

does anybody have any suggestions for sites to check out I'm starting to look around to find a good price on springs. I want the Eibach's but if there is a great deal on something similar I would jump on that too.
