lets say you have a set of some rims that you want to keep for a car, but they're too skinny for the application.

anyone have an idea how much it costs at a wheel shop to get a set of wheels widened?

pretty sure you cant widen your wheels. The only thing that i can think of is using spacers.

I know there is a place in the states that does do wheel widening for stuff like trucks and muscle cars but I don't know if alloy wheels are possible. Sorry I can't remember the address at the moment and I don't think I bookmarked them.

It is possible but prob not worth the cost. Also you can only widen the inside of the wheel (anything behind the wheel face/spokes) as far as I know.

Of course I am referring to one piece wheels. If you have a multi-piece wheel you have more options

Getting a 2 or 3 piece wheels widened is fairly easy, widening a single piece wheel should probably only be used as a last resort, especially on a street car. If you can get it done well so that they are strong its probably ok, but I wouldn't want just anyone to do something like that, the potential for disaster is quite large.
