Well after lining up for tech inspection and withing like an hour, my stock car finally passed and quickly ran a 16.5. But then all the VW's showed up and I decided to park it for a while. While waiting I saw the dumbest thing ever. A late 80's stang with a GTR emblem above the 5.0 emblem. After my friends an I had a good laugh, and quickly stopped ourselves when the bald psycho began looking our way. He ran a 15.2 but still lost to the red 300Z that was there runnin low 14's. Last run of the night, I pull up beside the GTR and realize that my SER symbols arn't gonna cut it aginst his. But I run anyway, I run a 16.6 and he runs a 15.1. But he still looses cuz he redlighted. HA ha beaten by the SER symbols! My SER symbols made him edgy and overanxious causing him to redlight. bwhahaha. Oh and before you guys start flamin me please realize that I am currently drunker than the night I put the symbols on. L8rz. BTW beyond dude in the blue WRX nice ride, I saw how the fools at tech made you go home to get owners permission (such a stupid rule!) L8rz

I liked the White Dodge Ram Diesel...

Inline 6 pushing out 1297lb/ft of torgue. that thing sounded incredible...especially seeing a huge quad cab heavy diesel truck with a canopy running mid 14's. Awesome awesome awesome.

Lots of forcefed cars out there tonight.

Yeah, i thought I'd let them have their fun with the stock civics and crx's!.... hehe jk. That diesel is freakin mean! I saw him take down the new hemi dodge truck that has a 100 shot on it. He was there a couple weeks ago doin crazy burnouts. Did you guys see the 9.4 second run by the black mustang?!?! did you also happen to see their tow vehicle? it was a 2002 Escalade, yes that's right a freakin black escalade is their tow car! freakin rich bastards. BTW: that is one PHAT 86 u got there. I don't think I've ever seen one like it before. What did u run? prob like 13 sumthin!:burnout:

Yeah, that was me that had to go get my registration. But my g/f was nice enough to meet me halfway. Tech took forever though. They need to get a couple more inspectors or something.

After many sleepless nights( ), I finally got the hang of launching AWD at the track. Fastest time of the night was my last run. My 60' time was 2.0, and 1/4 was 14.5@93. Time for boost controller. :D

I would have liked to have raced the new WRX. At the track I was suitably impressed with the acceleration. Nice little car right out of the box.

Secret Streets is a good time. It's pretty cheap and you can go beat the crap out of your car. I highly recommend it...

These were my times Friday Night...

I will give R/T (Reaction Time), 1/4 Time, MPH. (In That Order)

.105, 14.033, 101.53 <wheel hop in 1st>
.063, 14.352, 100.97 <missed gear in to 2nd, big grind>
-.051, 14.912, 97.81 <jumped light (red lighted), bogged car, missed shift in to 2nd, yelled "DOH">

(Hung head, parked car and hoped no one knew who was driving it!)

.102, 13.531, 101.40 <redemption>
.273, 13.673, 103.81
.099, 14.394, 102.14 <missed gear in to 2nd, yes, again>
.186, 13.616, 102.83
.154, 14.208, 99.32
.086, 13.698, 102.76
.203, 13.901, 101.53

I'll be out in 2 weeks time since they aren't having it next week. Not sure why, just read that it's the only Friday night of the season that they don't run it.

and yes, dj_honda, I got some exhaust work done. I am now getting rubber at the very top of 2nd.....:nut:

What were your 60ft times? Those are really nice times with that kind of a trap speed.

Z_Fan
08-11-2003, 11:40 AM
The 60ft times for the ones you quoted and onwards were as follows.

2.189
2.159
2.313
2.199
2.273
2.238
2.259

See, my car is just so damn heavy, I'm not sure I could ever get it under the 2 second mark. Perhaps with slicks...but the Z is just a super heavy car...:dunno:

I think the race city trap speed thingy is broken or something. With 2.1 to 2.2 60ft times, and 13.5's, you should be trapping around 105mph... not 101.

I know on the roadcourse, I was barely gaining on you, and I'm pulling high 107's in trap speed, so the 101mph doesn't really make sense.

I think it's broken too. Main reason being that I ran a 13.8 there my very first time at 102.8 mph. If it's not broken, it's not very accurate. Cuz I find it hard to believe I could shave 3/10ths off the time and have a slower MPH. But hey, I've got the slips and that's what they say. I also think what the 'tower' reads for speed is not necessarily what your slip prints out.

The only other thing that could be causing a variation is the level of boost. At track day, I was running 13.5 psi - 14.0 psi. Once in a while I will crank the boost up to 17 psi for a run on the 1/4. What usually happens is I get more wheel slip in 2nd gear, and actually wind up running slower! LOL.

What is the time you are receiving for the 1/4 then? That's what I'd like to know.

TTYL:)

[email protected]. 60ft time was 2.0 flat. The conditions that night were excellent (which is why I went), if I remember right, the best run was done at 12C, relative humidity of only 26%, and pressure at 102.4kpa. PLUS the track was prepped really nice, launches were near perfect everytime. Can't find a much better night than that.

The trap speed was "broken" that night too, on the right lane I was supposedly running 109-110mph. I could barely break 110mph in edmonton, which is 1000ft lower in elevation. 107.60 sounds more right for my car and weather conditions.

hahaha, you think your car is heavy all you had to do was turn around and check out the Thunerbird's that were teching behind you. I was the one who pointed out how nice your car was

Oh yeah, I remember, you were the one who was saying it was a 'timeless' design? Right? That you?

Rage: I figure if I go out on a pretty cool night, crank the boost, get a good launch on my first pass I might be able to get 13.2. I'm gonna keep trying. Ofcourse, what I really want to see is 12 anything. I'd be happy with 12.999. LOL.

I've only been to the Secret Streets twice, so I'm still learning.

Z_Fan,

Your car sounds nice down the 1/4. Heard it a couple times while I was waiting to pick up my timeslips. Didn't know it was you, but I'll make sure to say what's up next time!

Congrats on the times!

What do you have done to your Z? I ran a 14.2 @ 105 in my '90 TT Z. I was being very nice to the clutch/tires (2.9 60') so that is why my ET was so high. I figure if I beat on the car off the line I can get a low 13. I wil go back out once I get my testpipes and let you know how I do. Later

2M6...

If you're running that fast with a 2.9 60' then you are quick! The car would run much faster if we were at a lower elevation. I think, and someone can correct me if I am way off :dunno: , but we are at 3,600ft. So, the car should be faster at sea level yes yes...

As for modifications...

In Order Of My Upgrade Path…:D

Jim Wolf Technology ECU Upgrade
POP Charger
Greddy Exhaust
Stillen Type III Aero Kit
Centreforce Dual Friction Clutch
Aluminum Flywheel
Lightweight Underdrive Crank Pulley
AP Racing 4-Piston Caliper
Cross-Drilled & Slotted 13" Front Rotors
Stillen Larger Intercoolers
Stillen Intercooler Ducts
Stillen 300zx Silicon Boost Hoses
Blitz SBC-id Boost Controller
Stillen Oil Cooler Upgrade

Of course, some of this crap has nothing to do with times.
