I have Compustar 2 way alarm. Got it from a beyonder for 280?(forgot the price) i got it installed at this place called fan's auto for another 200. i believe you can get the install and the alarm system for 500 at best buy anyways. It's not a bad system at all. Haven't gotten broken into or anything yet, so thats a good thing. the thing that bugs me is that, the remote goes off sometimes because of the wind. Don't noe if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity or anything. Overall i'm happy about it. lots of good features.

I know that Alpine was good back in the day but now, living in Airdrie, we opt for the new system as pictured below

And then if that fails, we have a neighbor that for a case of Pilsner he will stand there by your car all night......

I got a 2-way compustar car alarm/starter installed @ futureshop actually down in the northpointe location. The install was excellent, quite shocking especially it being futureshop.

I've always had compustar in my cars, I had them in my 1997 and 1999 Preludes. Compustar is the way to go man.

Forgot to mention that you should also try speedtech, their prices include all you need for the install like the by-pass, powerlocks, etc.

Best car alarm i have had is a clifford. Only a few places in canada even sell them. Was about 1500bucks but holy hell was it crazy

Had auto start and auto kill

hidden battery in the car so if they dissconnect yours it still works.

Valet mode so it wont drive over 30kph.

Highjacker mode- you had to type a quick code in before you start the car. If some one where to start the car with out the code, it would let them drive for a few minutes before the car shut down, the doors locked, and the alarm went crazy.

Could roll or vent the windows from the remote.

If the battery went low, the car would start to charge it

When you lock the car it rolled up all windows etc.

Turn on head lights from the remote.

It was nuts lol

Hey Teggy, where did you get your alarm system from?
This is exactly what i'm looking for. Do you have the model number for that?

Thanks.

Mine was a couple years old now so i dont remember the model. Probably new and improved by now. Here is the page where you can find them. Go from here

http://www.clifford.com/Products/SecurityRemoteStart.aspx

they have alarms, alarms and starters, gps locators etc.

If you go to the store locator looks like you may have to order it from quebec or somewhere. And have some one you trust here install it. Make sure you do lots of calling around because its a complicated system and you dont want some one installing it half ass.

The one I'm using right now is the Viper 791xv 2 way alarm/remote start and I have everything install on it except the GPS tracking and Window rolldown. solid for the past 2 years now.

I believe Visions is the one that sells this model.

Cifford went under and was bought by DEI, not sure if the quality is still the same.

compustar FTW

i put that in my civic and also my Rav4

it got wicked feature (the one in the rav4)

- there is this sensor if someone was looking for you, they can knock on the windshield to call you (page to your pager of course)
- it has this auto lock/open...just have this on and walk towards your car and it will unlock it for you but as you walk away, it will lock the car for ya
- if you got turbo it would turn off whatever time you want it to

it got tons of feature and i trust it with my whole life..heh

go for it

Will they do custom add ons (backup battery & kill switch)?

^yeah, he's really flexible. Im pretty sure he will do (and has done) anything you ask for.

I like it because its not a huge chain that hires wankers that dont really care about their jobs or peoples cars, and they aren't out to rip people off and sell them crap they don't need or want. Jeff is the guy that looks like miikka kiprusoff

For quality, I'm not an advocate of Compustar. I've had to replace brains more than a couple of times. I've had issues with some of the peripherals too like antennas and shock sensors.

But as far as bang for the buck and marketability goes, Compustar is the shit. It adds value to your car when it comes time to sell. It's also straightforward to install and program too.

I just use my regular factory alarm.

The real deterrant is what *happens* to the sorry fuck I find breaking into my car.

Viper is my favorite

Also have an alpine, and a compustar in other cars
