Does anybody have a good garage or mechanic that they trust and can recommend?

Just want a couple of things (oil leak, electrical system) looked at for the 'ol Corolla. The city has just changed so much now and even shops that I've had some faith in in the past (eg Kal tire at Northland mall) has changed for the worse because it's hard can hire good people or something. Anyhow, help would be appreciated.

I'd recommend Wagner Automotive. He's a Toyota/Honda guy (used to work for Toyota) and he's an honest guy. I've been taking my cars to him for years and never had a problem.

What electrical issues do you have on the car? How bad does it leak?

Celica ST - 162, the electrical problem I'm having is that something in the alternator-battery-starter circuit is not right and is wrecking my starter. I already had to replace the starter twice myself and the warning lights are still coming on on my dash - so I obviously have not fixed the problem.

As for the leak, hard to quantify - there's oil down the front of my engine and onto the transmission but it barely drips on the ground, like maybe a few drops after a drive.

My DIY diagnostic skills are quite limited so it's nice to hear there are a couple of shops out there that you guys can recommend. Thanks!

Is there lots of oil and grease around where the starter mounts? If so, that can cause a bad ground for the starter which can contribute to wrecking the starter.

I can look at your car sometime if you would like me to give you a suggestion or two. "oil on the transmission usually means the valve cover gaskets are leaking.
