I just moved up to Edmonton from Calgary not too long ago. Im completely unfamiliar with the city. I live near West Edmonton Mall. I'd like to know if theres any places around that makes good food. Im tired of McDonalds n Queen Donair. Gimme sum good pizza places, chinese, italian or whatever.

The Spaghetti Factory at west ed is probably one of the best out of all the spaghetti factories. I go there whenever i'm there.

:werd: Chowhound is great for finding recommendations

But if you're near West Ed, the one restaurant that sticks out in my mind is Sawmill. Really good steak there

Hey GTS Jeff where is Gino's exactly? What's it by?

Pagolac has a southside location and it's pretty good I think. But I'm not a huge asian foot connoisseur by any means.

My friend works at Sawmill at Calgary Trail. The manager is a pretty good guy (I worked there for a bit), very committed to satisfying customers, plus pretty good food. I would recommend it.

I'd recommend this one sandwich which has chicken breast and a ton of cheese in it, forgot the name, but you'll see it on the menu. Great for lunch, but I'm not so sure it'd be my first pick for dinner.

I usually go to Pagolac in chinatown and it's pretty consistent there. The one in the south has no windows!! Went there once and food seemed the same though.

Sawmill is really good for 2 things, their prime rib and their sesame steak sauce. I either go for the prime rib or more often the steak sandwich so I can load up on the steak sauce.

Another good restaurant is Koutouki Taverna for Greek food.

Thann Thann on 101 street by the Brick.

The best Vietnamese I have had. I eat there every time I am in Edmonton.

Chinese food here sucks.

Tropika here is good, unlike the shitty one in Calgary.

Pagolac for Pho. Southside and downtown location are essentially the same for food.

DaDeO on Whyte for the Po' Boy sandwiches.

Bua Thai just off Jasper and across from St Joseph's Cathedral.

Koutouki on 124 st. Hands down my favorite Greek place.

Duke's Donair just a few blocks from the Butterdome on 87th Ave, next to the Mac's and Bank of Montreal.

I have yet to find similar quality places here in Calgary with relatively cheap but good eats.

I don't go up there too often, but when I was there last August a client recommended Noodle Noodle which is here:

10008 106 Avenue NW
Edmonton, AB T5H 0N7
(780) 422-6862

They have Dim sum etc. and the food and portions were huge. I ate half of what I ordered and then took the rest home for left overs.
