I'm going throuigh a faze with these cars. They weigh under 2000lbs and handle great. Im considering keeping my car till the end of the summer and then buy a winter beater and a Miata/Enos and build it up over the winter.

Anybody else think this is a dope Idea. I no they are a chcik car but 200whp and they can beat mustangs.

Here is a little bit of insperation:

5.0 in a Miata
LS1 in a Miata

Also you can supercharge the engine stock engine and get 200ish hp.

Well, that first one you posted is a FD.

I think I'm going through the same phase as well. Miata's are relatively cheap and handle great. I particularily love the look with fender flares and low offset wheels.

You should check out www.LS1tech.com
They have a conversion section there and lot's of Miata and RX7 there with an LS1/LS2 and LS6 converted cars.

The first car looks like a Viper :)

Pretty sure that car is an Rx-7, aka FD as the previous poster mentioned.

You were actually talking about the two Miatas in the background, right?

New Miatas have lost the lightweight and simplicity of the older ones.

I like this one.

The new generation ones switched to the MZR engine in the Mazda3. The last gen ones used the old B series engines which were pretty reliable, and also one of the last non-interference engines.

I would love to have a newer one with the amazing PRHT. And LS3.

I dont think that I would go for v8 miata. I would rather turbocharge the stock motor adn still have "somewhat" good MPG. And that would be to much work for me.

They are sick though. I was watching a couple of vids of them.

5.0L will probably get almost as good mileage as a high boosted 4cyl :dunno:

That, and you'll sound like a man to make up for the feminine looking car ;)

Pretty sure a V8 will get MUCH better mileage than a turbo 4, even with 2x the power.

Why do people think turbo 4s are good on gas? Maybe if you never use the turbo.... :dunno:

Depends, you might be so used to the turbo you'll always keep your foot down trying to attain max power haha

nice cars, if you keep then under 250 hp and get the second gen diff, you shouldn't have to worry about anything with the stock drivetrain, i've read on many miata boards that the tranny can't take much more then that, but its a 2000 pound car, so you have to ask yourself how much power you need for what you intend to do.

Thats why I put the Somewhat in Qoutes. People have been claiming to get 20-25mpg with their boosted miatas. I don't know a Whole lot about V8's so Im not to sure what they get for MPG, but im pretty sure that they can get aroudn 20 MPG.

do it up. But a 13b turbo would be a nice engine swap as well. I've kicked the idea around for after college but if I decide on a convertible it'll be either a s2000 or fc convertible....

I'll see if I can find the rotary powered miata.

that would be pretty cool to see a MX-5 (miata) build up, cus you dont see many or any mx-5 that are tuned.

The wheels on these cars look so small. Reminds me of this oldschool VW a couple blocks by my house. I think the guy had slicks on 12 inch wheels or something.

I wouldn't mind doing up a miata. I think the hardest decision would be which color to pick though haha

properly maintained and tuned well they can last forever. sold my fc with well over 200000 on the original engine and it was still going strong. had a binder full of maintenance records from the first owner though.
