2008 Beyond.ca NHL Playoff Pool Thread

The NHL playoffs start next week, so we're starting a NHL playoff pool contest (yah, a little late this year). We will be using the Sportingnews hockey pool so if you haven't signed up there yet, you'll want to register and get your team setup asap. The NHL playoffs start on April 9, 2008 so your team must be finalized before then.

The draft will be quite simple, you have $30M which you will use to buy players for your team. You will buy a total of 7 players; 1 Goalie, 2 Defensemen, 2 Wingers, 1 Center, and 1 Extra Attacker. The lineup you have on April 9th will be used to determine your final rankings amongst the beyond.ca league.

This year, we are changing it up a bit by allowing trades.

If you have suggestions, please do provide them! If any sponsors want to add more prizes in addition to our budget, please send me a PM!

Quick Summary:
- Completely FREE to participate and open to EVERYBODY (all ages)
- Start a team on fantasygames.sportingnews.com
- Join the beyond.ca 2008 league (password is clawsome)
- Finalize team by April 9th, 2008
- Get your friends to sign-up and enter this contest

When you are complete, join the "beyond.ca 2008" league and you will be entered in the contest. PLEASE NOTE: You must create your team first, THEN join the beyond.ca league.

Scoring
The winner at the end of the NHL playoff season will be the manager of the team with the most points.

I doubt we can buy trades...wouldn't make sense to allow that.

I had to only because I made a rook mistake.

Wanted to go Malkin to Datsyuk/Zetterberg to gain a couple games, thinking Ovechkin was getting knocked out anyway, so I could go go Ovechkin->Malkin later on. But not thinking ahead, I went to Datsyuk instead of Zetterberg, and couldn't go Ovechkin->Malkin since I already had a C as an extra attacker. So I had to waste a trade going from Ovechkin->Zetterberg, then Datsyuk->Malkin. :banghead:

Thats ok, I traded Crosby/Lupul for Iggi/Tanguay before the Flames game 7 thinking I'd gain some points. Big gamble and it defenitely didn't pay off lol.

I wasted 4 trades, got shit all from Iggi/Tanguay and didn't get Lupul's points from his OT winner.

Now I'm back with Crosby/other with no trades :banghead:
