And isnt the RPS13 the newer hatch that was reproduced in Japan? 95-up?

haha i play that initial D arcade game lots. and they have those 2 cars in it, the rps13 is the 180sx in japan, or the '89-94 240sx here in canada. teh s13 would be the old school silvias they have overseas... did they have s13's here? i thot i saw one once, but it turned out to be a nissan stanza... and a sedan, the rear remsembelled it alot tho.

95' and up is different, they are silvia q's in japan, alot like the s14 but rounder headlites or sumthin... it dint have fliplites, the rps13 does, its exactly like the 89'-94 240's we have here!

S12 84-88(?)200SX(NA)/Silvia(JDM)
RHS13 89-90 240SX(NA)/180SX (JDM)
RPS13 91-94 240SX(NA)/180SX(JDM)/200SX(Europe/Australia)
S13 88-94 Silvia(JDM)
S14 95-96 240SX(NA)/Silvia(JDM)
S14a 97-98 240SX(NA)/Silvia(JDM)
S15 99-up Silvia(JDM)

I believe that is all correct. Guessed on the years for the S12 tho...

The Silvia Q's are S13 Silvia's. They are a trim line, Jack(base), Queen(power), King(turbo, power). The first S14 has lights that are round, look like a 96 Camry or something, but where changed in 97 to be much sleeker, the ones you always see swapped on hondas, making it the S14a.

I don't think that is accurate, I will check when I am not at work....

And ace there if JNS Imports has brought some Silvias in then yes, there are some, but they were only available for import early this year. I think there are some Silvia conversions kicking around Calgary but not sure, there isnt any to my knowledge up here in Edmonton. I hope to have my Sil-Eighty conversion done buy the spring.

so those coupe bodies are refered to as silvias and are not readily available in calgary? and what does your conversion entail?

Ok I didnt specify this earlier. The 89-94 240s in north america came as two models, the hatchback, which is almost identical to the 180SX in Japan, and the coupe, which has the front end, (pop up lights) of the 240, but the back end (trunk) of a Silvia. The 240 coupe is a little more rare than the hatchback but there are still lots around. As for my conversion, it is the exact opposite of the 240SX coupe. It will be a hatchback with the Silvia front end, which has projector headlights. It is commonly refered to as a Sil-Eighty.

why thank ya, that helped out! also, the sil-eghty conversion sounds neat! can you tell me a little more about this conversion?

the s13 conversion onto a rhs13 is a direct bolt on except the head lights need the brakets which sometimes come with the conversion kits but they are ussually beaten up but there are some companies like unstable hybrids which sell new ones that they made. its a good conversion but will cost you about $2200 just to get the parts and than you still have to pay for paint. If you plan on doing this conversion you probably want to put everything on yourself unless you want to pay a body shop to do it before they paint it but that ussually costs you a arm and a leg.

I have thought about doing this conversion many times and decided not to mainly because of how much it will cost and I would rather spend that money on a new engine.

How much are you looking to spend on a car Ace?

ace mcfly
08-12-2003, 08:28 PM
well i want to buy a stock 240 for cheap. then do whatever when i save up. i'm almost positive an sr20det swap would be my first big move. hopefully i can find a car in great condition in and out, and then have a "whatever" engine. i don't care if it has 280 000km's, i'd be swapping it out. so hopefully becuase of the HIGH km's the car would be cheap. so it depends on the condition.

How much is cheap? It would be nice to find a car with high mileage like that and a really solid body, but don't hold your breath, we got a pretty bad climate.

i know, it's a tough find. well, cheap? about 5 months ago i saw a 240 hatch with a GREAT exterior, interior was good, and engine was at 250k km's. it was listed at $2500. that's cheap enough for me.
