Hey,

I live in British Columbia and was looking into buying a new 08 civic coupe DXG. The dealers starting price is $20,980 and once i finish putting everything into it (6 year payment plan) the finishing price is about $26,000.

My Question is how much do you think i could get the dealership to go down in price? Has anyone else baughten a new 08 civic for a better price?

Here is a link to what i am wanting:

Thank you in advance for your help.

Actually it's the 4th lowest. There's the LX, EX, and SI above the DX-G.

The price he's talking about with interest on a 6 year finance.

Maybe the dealers in BC are more willing to move in price but in Calgary, everyone I know who has bought one, including me, only got <$500 off haha

actually, a 6 year finance would cost $28152.72 ($391.01 per month for 72 months) according to the honda website.

What do you think the manufacture sale price is?

You can purchase the dealer invoice from www.carcostcanada.com Don't know how much dealer's will negotiate on something like a Civic though.

If i buy a used 07 for less will the interest rate be higher?

if the 07 was a demo, and hasn't been registered by a person, then you can still have the low interest rate. I believe it is still 0.9% and up. However, If it was purchased by a customer and traded it on or sold it back to dealer, the rates will not be like a like car rater. This is cuz Honda will consider these as "USED" or "Pre-Owned" vechicles and the warranty for powertrain is now 6yr/120k instead of a new car being 5yrs/100k.

probably should buy used... check out the car first very carefully. I have seen new civics with lots of problems you wouldn't expect in a new car.. For example visible huge welds, rusted out trunk.

You will barely get any money off a civic. I tried for days and couldn't get fuck all off mine.

That said, 26k sounds pretty high for a DX-G. Try to stay away from any dealer installed options, because you end up pricing yourself into the next model up.

If they had 07's left, which is doubtful, then you wouldn't get a better rate. The dealer would now consider it a used car since it isn't sold and it would go preowned and the rate would be prime at best from a bank at around 6.5 or so. It depends on your credit and money down etc... The thing is with civics is there is only a small margin for dealers to move. On those civics there's somewhere around 1000 dollars to move. Most dealers only do 500 off because they'd only make 500. Plus if you're willing to drive a standard the 5 spds are usually around 1200 cheaper then an automatic. The rate for 6 years is probably a lot higher then for say a 5 year or 4 years finance as well. Plus in BC you have PST. It all ads up so your price sounds about right. Freight, PDI, GST, PST, interest... It all works out to a grand 6-8000 more. Enjoy the civic!

if your going to pay $26k , make sure you get some extras... like 3M, diamond kote, deflector, spoiler, HFP kit, fogs, anything you can get them to throw in there. At least you'll get more.

i paid a little bit under 30 for my 07 si last year.. so the 26 does sound kind of expensive for a dxg in my opinion.
