I used hansens because the price was resonable and they were insured. Searail ?spelling claimed no responsibility for damages so i would not use them..

No problem at all with Hansens

Easy there gemini. Im really sorry for starting a post, making you read it, making you reply to it and now making you find not one but 5 posts related to shipping a car. I'm such a newb! I hope you accept my apology for having you go to all this trouble. As a token of my appreciation, my offer to walk my dogs will be extended to you too.

$2400 to ship from LA to Calgary is on the expensive side but Hansen's seems to have a good reputation.

It cost me $2200 to ship a car from Atlanta to Calgary using Searail so they could probably ship your car for $2000 or so.

Driving back the car is always an option but you'll have to pay state tax if you do so from CA.

not to mention you'll have to buy gas here which you'll get raped on

Pussy. Go down and drive it back. Its not that far, plus you get to find out what your new car will do on the Salt flats.

Gas is cheaper in the US anyways so why drive it back? If you're spending $2000 in gas on the way back, I'd say you have a big hole in your gas tank or 10,000cc injectors.

But Searail will probably damage the car. I was one of their victims but other people don't have to be. I used Hansens to ship my deuce from San Diego and it was about $2200. On the high side but considering Searail did $1500 damage to my last car it was well worth it.

Driving it back yourself is alwayst the cheapest option.

I got a better idea than taking it to the salt flats, you drive me down there in whatever you drive and we just race each other back the whole way, it'll be like the gumball rally but 10x better.
We can also plan the route out so we can drift on roads right by the ocean, this might be the trip of the century. Couple things i gotta know before i go on a road trip with a complete stranger 1. Do you smoke? 2. Do you watch gay porn? and last are you in anyway affiliated to the claw dude?

I am flying down to baltimore and Driving my Car back.....Its about 34hrs but I love Driving it should be fun.

Flight was only 220.00 Didn't have to pay state tax. And I negotiated a $150 Gas card.

So since the car comes full of Gas I am looking at

100 for Food
220.00 Plane
600.00 For Gas
190.00 Border Charge
300--Hotels/Motels

Total Shipping Costs Not Including taxes and Customs

$1410 and I get my car in 3 Days

ya, just drive it back... shouldn't be more than 29 hours from LA to your house in Calgary.

I made it from San Fran to Calgary in just under 22 hours...

I had a trucker ship my car from LA to Sweetgrass, Montana where I met up with him and drove it home. Cost was US$950. Took only 2-3 days after he picked it up. PM me if you are interested and I could give you a contact.

I have seen quotes on U-Ship for similar distances to Calgary for around $1400-1500.

I had to do the paper work so that is why I had it shipped to the border only. If you ship to Idaho(Kingsgate) then I think it's only US$800.

Unless you are actually going to make a trip out of driving it back, I wouldn't say it's worth it to drive it.

this is your best route. Don't get it shipped to Calgary, just go down to sweetgrass and then do all your paperwork while your there. It will be the cheapest way to get your car home, unless you go and drive it yourself.

I had a car sent from New York to the border for just under $1000 and i had my M3 sent from Missouri to the border for under $900.

To do it, you have to get the timing right. The biggest hurdle is traffic in Salt Lake city. I managed to go through there at 2 am. Otherwise, you can tack on another hour easily.

22 hours is a more reasonable as you can actually stop to get gas and pee... hahaha

URG, some shippers are $*%&*^ slow..
I have an Audi and Lexus sat at the border right now for 2 weeks.
I believe this is Hansen's responsibility:(
