I was really confused the first year I worked for my current employer. Being my first year working in the oilpatch and receiving bonus's I had no clue why i was getting an extra grand for vacation pay.LOL

Can you elaborate some more on this?

Like what part of the employment blah blah blah explains this?

this could be very helpful to me very soon.

But if you took your x number of weeks off you don't get the vacation pay. its either or. 2 weeks = 4% of a year. 3 weeks = 6% of a year.

Legally why would they owe you 6% bonus if you had 3 weeks? I was under the impression that 4% was what was legally required, and everything else was just gravy that the company provided out of their own generosity.

So hows this work, say I have 3 weeks and took it all last yr, and worked 1/4 of this yr so far. They want me to take me vacation now that I'm on my 2 weeks notice. So can I also claim this % at the end? for just this yr, or back paid last as well?

Hrmm.. I wonder how it works for guys like me and broken who are MWD, when:

Is the actual drilling of the well oilwell servicing?

The actual drilling of the well and work performed with a mobile workover or completion service rig is not oilwell servicing.

But logging is covered... ha.. So we are logging real time drilling, it would seem this may not cover us. I'm not technically on the floor drilling the well though.

Yeah this is an interesting point you bring up.

Im getting screwed by SLB right now. They are forcing me to take vacation days just to have days off.

Just worked for an entire month straight, and to get 4 days off they made me take vacation.

What a joke.

I'm so close, just a little longer haha

I'm running out my 2 weeks notice right now. I worked ~28 each of the last 3 months, I'm taking a few months off.

So does this mean that I can go back and get paid my the difference between my miniscule salary only that I got paid while on vacation and the 6% of total compensation for the year?

I mean for vacation days that I have already taken for this year and last, if as you say you can go back 2 years then they should be paying me the difference.

for easy numbers say my salary is 30k and i make 100k with bonus. 3 weeks vacation i only get paid about 2100 dollars salary. But 6 % of 100k is 6000, so would they owe me the difference of 3900?
