Do we still do these threads??? haha

It's finals time yo. You know the deal:

What classes are you writing finals for?
When are they?
How screwed are you?
What are you stressing over?

and most importantly.....

What are you doing to stay awake/sane? :D

I've got a pharmacy exam tomorrow morning consisting of old board exam questions, a pathology exam on Tuesday, and a second pharm exam on Wednesday. Catching my flight home on Thursday morning! Can't wait for this shit to be done.

Oh....caffeine pills > coffee. Take one in the morning and I'm awake for the rest of the day. If I feel I'm gettin tired mid-day I'll take half of one and I'm good. Best part about it...... no time wasted taking coffee breaks haha :D

Discuss.

5 classes...

-1's my final year design class; hence, no final
-1's a take-home final due next Monday (Transportation, Regional Planning, and Development)
-3 scheduled finals, all with 4-5 days in between each one for me to study! (Sanitary Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, and Structural Systems and Materials, in case anyone was interested)

Definitely the best exam schedule I've EVER had, and this is speaking from 7 years of being in University! :banghead:

By the way, those are 3rd/4th yr Civil Engg courses at the U of S if anyone cares.

4 finals back to back. Nothing too crazy. Plus, not too stressed out about the finals either! Have a chance to cut an A or A+ on the courses so might hit 4.0 this semester depending how stupid group work marks went :guns:

Loom 509 is being taught by Edmund Cartwright. Google him, he's a good guy.

My pharmacy introduced me to "Wakeups." They've each got about 100mgs of caffiene, and no other shit in them (As opposed to slamming back a tonne of energy drinks.)

They give a real nice kick for a good 3-3.5 hours and no crash after.

Should be a breeze this year

Soil Mechanics -easy
Transportation -easy
Structural Desgin - gonna be a real bitch
Engineering Economics - as mentioned above, easy
Science, Technology, and Society -should be easy, essay type questions so I dont really have to much except BS for a bit to get a solid 60%

Should be pretty sweet, I always do really well on exams, going for a GPA > 3.5 for the 3rd semester in a row

so I'm taking a study break and looking at what everyone else is dealing with, and I was wondering what your guy's study strategies/tips are, or things you do that work well in exam week. I've heard everything from green tea while studying, to taking ginkgo bilboa to taking dexatrine, so I thought i'd see what beyond does.

I personally put it off this semester until about 4 days before my first final and now I'm kind getting stressed looking over how much I have to review and am probably looking at a all day every day type of studying deal for the next week.

I've used dexatrine quite a bit, but am trying to stay away from it because of some of the side effects. Getting off beyond is obvious, other than that, I'd be interested to hear how some of you guys (especially the medical types with a lot to cover) handle exam week.

I would suggest that you focus on getting a good amount of sleep. If your studying anything that is logic based I find that stimulants in general will make it more difficult to focus and to think logically, so I'd avoid that.

If your just looking for something to drink while you study, why not just have something like a jugo juice? Easy on the body, satisfies the habit side of drinking something while you study and won't throw you off.

but if your taking time off and shit before MBA or whatever.... GPA doesn't mean much.

Thats my two sence anyway....

What classes are you writing finals for?

How screwed are you?

Not overly, these courses aren't hard.

What are you stressing over?

Making sure I know the specifics of dreamweaver for the E-commerce test, as 40% of the final is creating a webpage from scratch.

What are you doing to stay awake/sane?

rofl, if u think bio 233 if too much memorization, you will have trouble in second year. bio 233 is a lot of high school review. just wait til ecology (biol 313) and cellular and molecular bio (bio 331).

I just had my 331 final today and it was SO hard. i mean... studying one day for bio 233 and an A is still achievable, studying 1 week for 331 gets you a B if you are lucky.

Haha :werd: I loved Ochem though, it was Bchem that got me.

Ecology was a retarded class, but the labs pulled me up huge.

Genetics sucked, I had an asshole TA that dragged my mark down.

331 and bchem iare what made me get out of bio, I didn't find needlessly memorizing chapter upon chapter of textbook material or metabolic pathways to be the kind of challenge I was looking for...

Yeah I loved Ochem too to be honest...it wasn't easy, but I don't know I found it to be interesting and some of the labs were kind of cool...out of all 2nd year classes Ochem was definately my favorite.

And yes, 331 was fucking insane...Lohka and his fucking "A, B, C, A &C, B & C" exams destroyed me - I hate tests like that so much. 331 and 313 have been my 2 worst university classes so far...but hey once you get through it, you feel like you can honestly get through anything.

one left in 23 hours...econ 423...I'm at the point though where my mind is so shot that even the simplest concepts I'm forgetting...oh well 25hours till I'm finished for the year...freedom!!

Gotta love the group project classes though (Glgy301)...w/o a doubt one of the easiest courses I ever took & with no final left more time to study for my other ones :)

Best way to concentrate take small breaks...ie. 5-10 minutes every hour or two...just either surf beyond...play some online games...it helps you keep your sanity!

Long ass nights FTMFL though...nxt year I'll start studying earlier...lol..

For PHYS 259 I did shitty on the MT last year and ok but not spectacular on the final and ended up with a B+. So I wouldn't stress too much about it...

The labs and assignments really pulled me up.

Yeah I had two female profs for it O'Connor and someone else. The way the exams were worded, with two double negatives, two answers that were either very, very similar or could both theoretically be correct really fucked with me. I felt like they weren't really testing my knowledge in the course so much as just trying to trick me into getting questions wrong.

GT.....O?

I passed all my courses at SAIT. I was sitting at 50% in one theory course. Then I got 70 something on the last exam, and 86 on a final assignment which was worth the same weight as a exam. Big relief when I got my marks. lol. Partly cause I slept through that class. Digital theory... so dry.... blah

lisa is one of the best, you may think not first semester, aerodynamics, math, digital etc, but last semester of 2nd year you'll be happy you have her as one of your teachers.

i can't believe Glen isn't teaching Digi this year , hopefully you'll get him for the 737 power generation course.
