Pretty sweet!

Can't wait to see it do the official run at Nurburgring. GO ZR1!

Your thread title makes a pretty bold claim when all it is is speculation. Sort of like that terrible article that Edmunds wrote up.

If you read the article, you will note that it is not I who is making the claim, but GM.

According to ZR1 Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, the ZR1 will beat the track record for production cars at any road course in the world.

I have added quotation marks around the title for clarity.

Does the GTR V-spec's productions numbers qualify it for a "production" car?

This could get interesting. Run on slicks the Zr1 will turn some blistering times.

What's the point of running the ZR1 on slicks? Nobody else (but Nissan) does it, so it would be pointless to compare anyways. Either way, I can't wait to see the V-spec get trounced by the ZR1 and GT2

now, if it can outrun the ugliness that is the current generation of Corvette, it will be really fast

I actually like the look of the 'vette. The ZR1 is actually really sexy.

They're getting it right this time and making them more distinguishable from the lesser models.

more info made it up

ring times in the low 7:40s... its a long way off from the v-spec but it has a lot of room to move.

4 seconds or so is not a "long way off" from the GT-R on a track as long as the 'ring

I'm taking that 7:40 time with a huge grain of salt, the Z06 laps in 7:42, the ZR-1 should theoretically be a good ten seconds or more faster.

Oh yeah well the v spec ran a 7:25 on cheap tires in the wet while being driven by a monkey, so it should be good for sub 7 minute laps

the v-spec was 7:25... thats a 15 sec gap... thats pretty significant.

Not on a track as long as the 'ring. That's like 1.5 tenths of a second on a lesser track.

Just in time for new regulations about fuel economy and emissions that will stop any production of cars like the ZR1. :(

The v-spec that apparently ran a 7:25 was a preproduction car on unidentified tires.

Track was also wet when the ZR1 ran.

+1
I'll take the GT2 any day.

Oh, and since the ZR1's official time in the best possible conditions is all speculation, :whocares:
Begin the "flame me" war.
