Got in a little argument with the girlfriend today about how much women generally take home in calgary vs fort mac at a decent restaurant (not mcdonalds).

So what are your ladies (or you) taking home as an average per night and the min-max.

Anyone know what its like up in Fort Mac compared to Calgary? I can guess but looking for some facts. And I know other factors like looks take play so we'll say how much a good looking server takes home.

Well I'm not the best looking guy in the world but I bring home minimum 60$ a night from east sides. 250$ max usually. Depends if I bartend or serve and also if it's weekday or weekend. Bartended last night and it was dead cuz of the hockey games and I still brought home 125$. So it's not bad at all. But I also give exceedingly good service and get probably 3 to 4 compliments given about me to my manager per night so it might be why. I go above and beyond what most servers do in Calgary. I love the service industry and although I will have a decent job in a year after college I have already told my managers I would still bartend for them a couple times a week. Cuz who doesn't need a couple extra hundred a week....or 500$ a week hehehe. Nothing wrong with that.

Dunno how it is in Fort Mac but I'm sure in a decent spot with a good server they can make good. I work very hard and make good tips off almost every table despite my arms being covered in tattoos.

What type of resturant are you talking about?

Swiss Chalet or Earls/Joeys or Saltliks or Teatro's?

Decent mate...25 an up for an entree...so pretty much keg kinda stuff and upwards to the higher class jazz....so saltlik and teatro's style specifically...but really any restaurant sparks interest. Mabe the cheaper style restaurants see more tables a night and get more low tips vs. few high tips. Dunno checkin it all out really.

I don't think there is anything even up to Keg standards in Fort McMurray. I usually eat at Moxies or Montanas when I'm up there (on in whatever hotel I happen to be in).

I don't know numbers, but I know a guy who's wife served in one of the hotels and she said the tips were quite a bit better than when she was in Edmonton. She said because it is typically all guys there, they are always trying to look like big spenders. She also mentioned she was asked how much extra for sex/bj's almost once a week so there is that opportunity too. :D

Its right downtown by the casino. And a girl would make quite a bit more up there then in Edmonton or Calgary. Drinking is more popular in Fort mac then anywhere in Canada and combine that with the ridiculous money being made equals very good tips.

If a girl really wanted to make good money her best bet would be to work in one of the camps at the bar. They live there for free and make 17 bucks an hour and take home 100% of there tips, 500$ a night isn't out of the question.

My roomate works at Cowboys and Showgirls here in Ft Mac. She worked at Speakeasy in Calgary previous to moving here.

She made 780 last night on a beer tub/front door spot at Showgirls last night.

On Friday/Saturday at Cowboys, easily a G note or more is not unusual.

The girls here in Ft Mac make far more than their counterparts in Calgary from what I've seen and heard. You can thank brain dead drunk Newfies who have nothing else to spend their "yes b'y" money on than trying to impress their friends, the girls behind the bar, and themselves.

FM blows for restauants. The keg and moxies..etc., if you don't show up at some odd hour, its lined up across the parking lot. You have sooo many people that want to eat at a decent place when they come out of the bush, have the money, or even just the amount of people that role thru for meetings and stuff and want to "eat at the fancy places"..

..pass.
