August 13th Calgary herald

Fog blamed as head-on collision kills two

Two people were killed and two others injured Tuesday in a head-on collision near Innisfail.

The crash happened at about 7 am about 13 kilometers east of Innisfail on Highway 590.

An eastbound pickup truck was attempting to pass a semi-trailer when it collided head-on with a westbound car.

A passenger of the truck, and the lone occupant of the car, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries while a second passenger was trasnported to Innisfail Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Weather is considered to be a factor. Visibility was limited due to fog. traffic was detoured around the scene for several hours.

hopefully his family keeps his car....he put so much work in that car it would be sad to see it sold to someone who doesnt know its actual worth...

to think he put so much time and effort into it and never got to experience the finished product....damn man.

I agree, seeing as he probably loved that car, and all the work he put into it. I think it should continue on as a tribute to him. Something for people to remember him by.

Well I was kinda saving my post, but I decided to post now.

He was a great friend and was one of those people that was easy to like. We had good times helping with each others cars and going out and such. He worked sooooo hard to make his 240, 2 years in fact. He took the whole car apart, replaced bolts with new bolts, painted all kinds of parts, polished, cleaned, etc. He had so much patience and a strong will to carry on no matter what problems where going on. He was one of the hardest working persons I have ever met. He was respected by many for these reasons. It's hard for me to know that he did not even get to drive such a phenominal car that he was building. It was going to be the best modded import in Calgary for sure, even Alberta perhaps. People may say it was just a dumb car, but that car was Orrins life, and his major goal and I'm sure people here can respect that.

His family wishes that the car to be completed as a tribute to him. With the assistance of his parents, brother, close friends we are going to get the car finished. Karl has offered his shop and tools free to me to continue the project and get the car fully operational. But right now I need time to digest the recent events and worry about the car stuff later.

The community have lost a great person and he will be deeply missed.

Good bye Orrin, we will miss you.

:werd: good to hear his legacy will carry on with his car, i'm sure thats what he would have wanted.

a while back i thought i might have annoyed him by pming some questions about his car because everyone probably asked him those questions, but he responded politely and was really informative. i was really impressed. i never met him but he was a cool guy and definitely knew his car inside out. i remember him posting about how he said he started this project a long time ago when he was younger and thought it was soo easy....but he definitely stuck through it and i can easily believe he was a hardworking guy.

at least one of his main goals are still being carried on then he wont be gone, just he will be in the heart of his friends, memories and the soul of the car. i actually didnt know s15 conversions r possible on that year until i saw his....and it made me like silvias/180sx more.

may he rest in peace and may his goal be finished.

For those of you who haven't checked out the status of his car as he last updated, you can see it in progress in the Member's Ride section, which Spyguy conveniently stickied:
http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13163

It looked like it was going to be one hell of a ride. It's unfortunate that he never got to finish it in time, as he was supposed to help represent Beyond at Import Showoff last weekend.

Hollywood, do keep us up to date with the status of this on going project. That really is an amazing thing you're doing, and I wish you the best of luck with it.

Orrin definitely stood out as a mature and informative member on the board, and he will be missed.

Crazy man. I've always wondered what people would say about me when I die. So many good comments he must have been a stand up guy so I'm sure he was happy and it sounds like he made the best of his time while he was here.

Helping with his car sounds like a good idea, some kind of cruise in his honour would be cool too, and a good time to raise some money for his car and maybe awareness for driving conditions, this is definately a wake up call for me and I'm sure many others. R.i.p
