Hi all, Im nipping over to Canada for 3 weeks in July. Been before and done some good things, white water rafting for example.
I was wondering what things there is to do such as that.

Ill be going rafting again, am going to visit the columbia ice fields and will be going to the shooting edge for some target practice in calgary.

Anything like helicopters, bunjee jumping, abseiling etc is good.

Any thoughts? :dunno:

Cheers :)

Try to stop by the calgary stampede if you can, it's an event every calgarian anticipates every year. If you can make it, come down for the biggest pubcrawl in the city of calgary. If you aren't aware of what a pubcrawl is, it's basically a bunch of party people going bar/club hopping accross the city with a yellow school bus, although sometimes it's black or different colors as well. Check it out.

Camping in the mountains is always fun. Go to minnewanka lake and rent a boat for a few hours.

Go tubbing down the bow river in calgary.

Mountain biking down in kicking horse british columbia is an intense experience. Rental bikes are available and MAKE SURE you insure it as the mountain isn't very forgiving with bikes.

hiking trails, site seeing, hit banff and canmore for those stuff.

There is a place just outside of calgary that does sky diving for a few hundred dollars. I haven't had the chance to do it myself but a few of my friends have and loved it.

Wow! Great stuff. Ive always wanted to go skydiving too!

Im gutted I wont be there for the stampede :( Ill be in Le Mans til the 15th, then flying over on the the 20th.

My grandma went in the 1980s to the stampede and said it was one of the most amazing events shed ever seen.

Ill squeeze that in next year!!!

I'm sure that the stampede hasn't changed that much since that your grandma was here in the 80's..

if you're stopping by edmonton,ab and you're bored you can go bungee jumping in the mall (west edmonton mall).. and visit 3 different la senza stores, or just spend 3 hours walking around a big ass mall...

theres an imax/movie theatre, paintball, arcade, pool, bowling, multiple restaurants + 2 food courts, large indoor swimming pool (where theres bungee), a good indoor rollercoaster, casino, themed hotel, live theatre, ice rink in the middle, watch some seals at 2&4pm, uh... and find parking on a saturday in the largest parking lot in the world apparently.

*hides*

edmonton sucks otherwise.

You can't come to Canada without getting hammered on our beer and looking for the elusive Canadian Beaver.

Niagara Falls...and if you're around Toronto, hit up the glass elevator in the CN Tower. Richmond St. on a Saturday night is awesome if you're into partying.

well Canada is a pretty small community, if you ask someone here what to do when you get here someone will be nice and tell you, make sure you tell them you know Dave and John

Personally I love Moraine lake, you can rent a canoe and its a short detour on the way to Lake Louise. Louise is too full of tourists.

If you do go to West ED mall, make sure you go to the water park, else its just a boring mall with the same stores (or less) as other malls. US has way better/nicer shopping centres imo.

Go camping in the rockies, tons of fun.

^^^ haha it's funny you mentioned how fun it is to go camping in the mountains when you told me that you don't go camping the last time we talked. ;)

But yeah, west edmonton's water park is definitely a great place to go to. Lots of fun slides! The wave pool is pretty sweet too.

+1 for sea kayaking on the west coast. Amazing!

Here's a good explanation of the differences between Canadians and Britons.
Britons think a hundred KM's is a long way, and Canadians think a hundred years is a long time.

lol, very good! 100km, is only like 45mins away though, so not bad. 100 miles is a long way. Then again, 100 miles to the left, Im in the Irish Sea, 100 to the right, am in the North Sea!!!

Just thinking about that I was looking earlier at where dragon force are playing in Canada. Toronto, so I got maps24, Calgary -> Toronto. 2200miles?!!?!?!?!

If i went that far west from my house Id be through, and 70 miles past Moscow! no joke!

I find American tourists amusing. In their museums and theres things from the 1800s there, ooooohh ahhhhhhhh.
And then when you say something along the lines of 'man, what a rip off, Ive got stuff in my dining room older than this!', they look like 'older than this?! was the world even invented then?!!?" :nut:
And when I went to vegas, there was this "medieval banquet" like something off Cable Guy, and theres no knives and forks!!! Why, I do pray ask? Because they didnt have them according the Americans.
Well, I can assure you they did lol. And its almost the same as todays, standard knife spoon fork. And sporks!

Looks like kayaking just went on the list!!!!! :D

Yeah I was going to mention ON but it seems like he will just be in Alberta?

Harborfront? Centreville island, Castle Loma, Ottawa, ROM, Niagara Falls, St Jacobs, Toronto zoo, African Lion Safari,
Ottawa parliament buildings, Manitoulin Islands...Heart Island(Boldt Castle) We could do a province by province there is so much to do in Canada.

I have heard that Montreal is an amazing city just to walk around. Lots to see there and party. I have never actually been, but perhaps someone can make some recommendations there if its worth it.

lol the stampede.. bunch of rednecks running around drinking beer. Not very exciting. Decent tickets are infield only for the rodeo and chuckwagons, you'll have trouble getting them!
