Hi there,

I am moving from Calgary, AB to Kingston, ON and need to have my 2007 VW GTI shipped. From searching the forums, overwhelmingly, Hansen's appears to be the most consistently recommended. However, I was looking to potentially transport some personal items with the car as well to reduce the stuff I have to carry via airplane or ship via Canadapost.

The only two companies that I have seen that offer such a service are Mackie Moving Systems (http://www.mackiegroup.com/) based out of Ontario allows a 200lbs limit of personal items.

Also TFX International (http://www.tfxinternational.com) allows a 100lbs limit of personal items.

Does anyone have any experience with these movers?
Is the idea of transporting personal goods (not particularly valuable, just large and awkward) a bad idea, considering the trouble many people have with auto transporters?
Does anyone have any other recommendations for transporters that allow the transport of personal goods?

TFX is by far the BEST carrier in Canada. However, their services don't come cheap. If Mackies rates are better and they allow you an additional 100lbs, I'm sure they'd suffice.

I've never used Mackie, but as for leaving personal items in the car, I'd leave my first-born with TFX.

I do not recommend this company! They are not reliable. I recently used them to ship my car and I would not wish this service to anyone, really BAD. Yes you are allowed to put some 200lbs of personal items in the car but it would cheaper to use another company for the vehicle and ship your personal items using greyhound or canadapost, you would save yourself the headache of the bad service Mackie Moving Systems would give you...and it might actually be cheaper!:barf:

Cheers
