So I'm going to Miami next week and I'm looking to buy an iPhone while I'm there. It says on the apple.com store it says that theres a 2 year activation required with AT&T when buying the phone, I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not this is in-store as well?

Thanks!

You just walk in, buy it, take it home and unlock. The 2 year contract only activates when you connect it straight to itunes without unlocking.

is there a limit to how many a person can buy?

So I'm not gonna have to sign up for anything at the store or is that contract activation thing all completely over iTunes?

Walk in Apple store, ask for your phone, done. Exacty what Donmega said, it doesnt get any clear/simple than that.

I walked into apple store in Denver and they didn't care how many I buy. I even asked the guy, he said theres no limit. I walked out with 4. :dunno:

I am also looking to buy in the states. How difficult is it the unlock and jail-breaking process? Does anybody have any links or able to provide me with how it can be done?

I heard ZiPhone works good too, one click unlocks, jailbreaks and activates the iphone.

If you can wait till June to buy your iphone. They are suppose to announce the release of the 3G version. Prices of the iphone has dropped in Europe already.

Try not to use ZiPhone to unlock as many people have reported several fairly major issues specific to ZiPhone. I personally have used ZiPhone to unlock and my phone works great but why take the risk?
I have heard nothing but good things about iLiberty, or you can just PWN your phone using the pwnage tool which will probably be the best method for the future.
