Long shot but, if anyone knows anyone that lives in Hanna Alberta I could use their help.

A friend of mine filled up with diesel at the Esso in Hanna and the fuel was garbage....almost seized the motor. $6400 bill so far...who know what kind of internal damage was done. He would drive out there but chances are they have closed the pump but we need some type of sample if he is going to go after Esso for damages.

Let me know and Thanks in advance.

Steve

I thought this was a Canadian reference to Hanna Montana...

But it wasn't. Sorry to hear about your friend's problem, what a shitty deal.

Ps. It's Super Nintendo ChaLmers :burnout:

Yah, we have a sample from his tank, but it looks like we will need a sample of their fuel to prove it was them. I have no problem making the drive, we are worried the pump is closed.

I know!! Tell Rage2!! :D

Thanks again guys.

I'd take a video camera with you to film you getting the sample from the pump. An O&G company wont shell out cash with only two different containers of diesel and your word that they're from that pump and it's the reason his engine is dead. Lots of luck to your friend, I think he's got a long legal battle ahead of him :(

^^I 100% agree. No chance of anything good coming from this. Got to try though, this dude doesnt have a lot of $$$...no clue what he will do if he is stuck with a $6400+ bill.

^^ Just be careful he isn't stuck with a $6400 bill and a lawyer's fee on top of that :(

Similar thing happened to one station in the States last week, tons of motorists filled up their tanks, only to find out, they were filling up with more water than gasoline....

That's a great idea.

Hope your friend gets everything taken care of.

I'm not sure if the video camera will prove much... you can easily tape yourself taking a sample from the pump and then later substitute it for another.

I would try and see if you can get an independent third party (such as a local lawyer perhaps) to either collect the sample or witness you collecting the sample and then offer some sort of confirmation or submit it for you...

Has your friend called esso about the issue? My ex-gf filled her car at some discount gas place here in Calgary a few years back and got a bad tank of gas. The car was losing power, stalling, etc. She took the car to the dealer and they had to drop the tank to clean it, replace the fuel filter, etc. Maybe only about $600 worth of stuff, but when she called the gas station they openly admitted that they received a supply of gas that "was not ready for market" and told her to send them the bill for the repairs needed. I know this bill is quite a bit larger, but it might not turn out to be such a big issue, chances are that esso is already aware of the problem though other complaints, so I wouldn’t imaging “proving” your case to them is going to be much of an issue.

What does he drive that his engine costs over $6400 and he can't afford to fight this out?

The engine in my car costs $3-4K but I don't have that kind of money laying around for fun... I'm a dying student here!

I'm currently in Saskatoon and just finished my last final this morning. I'll be coming back to Calgary in the next day or two and will pass right through Hanna so if the problem hasn't been solved yet, I can try to offer a hand if possible. PM ASAP if that's the case as my computer and all my other junk will be packed within the next 24 hrs.

It's a dodge cummins 3500. It's his work truck (his own Company)...trust me, this dude can barely afford diesel right now.

Thanks again for everyones help and advice. I went straight to Beyond with a problem I couldn't fix!! :D
