Honestly i have no problem with gambling but the 6/49 is a really shitty way to throw your money away, and yea if you do actually win decently it will be a big payout. Buuuut I worked in a esso a couple years ago for a little over a year and honestly 1 person the entire time i worked there won anything more than $10, which was $100. And for the $10 prizes i'd give out one of those a week. And its not like this place was dead, one of the busiest gas stations in calgary. And the thing too was all of the people walking in there spending $70 on tickets every week were not the people that could really afford it. You know when you drive a beater and dont even fill it up, just $20 top offs. Anyways if your going to throw money away on the lottery buy the scratch and win tickets, they pay out much much more often.

Just to bring up the lightening thing again ;) You are far more likely to get struck by lightening than to win one of the large cash prizes. Lotteries are a tax on those who are bad at probability and suck at maths. You can light your money on fire instead of buying tickets for all that it matters.
