It's a 1972 Datsun 240z, picked it up for a nice price, always wanted to build a S30 and finally found one, and best of all, it's smog exempt so I can legally put any motor in it at any power.

Engine right now is:
L28 with mild cam
N42 head
rebuilt SU carbs with K&N filter

Now I'm debating between a RB26DETT or a V8 small block, chevy probably. Any opinions on what engine to drop?

LS1 for sure. Supercharged if you like, and that would be an absolutely wicked machine. Could get 400-450 horses easy.

I know people stick V8's in these all the time. Does anyone think you could actually fit a Viper V10 in there? Imagine that eh? A sleeper car that would rip the doors off nearly every single car on the road. Including the likes of Lambos, etc.

If you actually could swing a V10, you should be able to get a viper v10 for about 5 grand. Tranny for around the same or less.

Then supercharge it.

I was searching for one here in Calgary awhile ago but they are few and hard to find in good shape...

I ended up with an e30 project car instead, but I'd sell it for a nice Z like that for sure!
