need some info on a impreza

I am just wondering I am looking at maybe getting a 1999 Subaru 2.2L impreza can anyone that owns one or knows anything how good are these cars and how is the reliability on them. All that I know is that they make the 142 HP @ 5,600 rpm; 149 ft lb , 202 Nm @ 3,600 rpm

Consumer Report show:

Engine: Below Average (Common head gasket problem, seals, .....
Transmission: Below Average (Especially Automatic)

Other than these two items, above average condition.
