Hey guys, just wondering what are the best and most secure car alarms/immobilizers out there.
I dont have too much experience with alarms in general, so I thought I'd ask you guys.
Also, any leads on to where they sell them, would be much appreciated.
My last one was a Viper, and while it was satisfactory, I could slam the trunk and not even set it off, other times a Harley with loud pipes would set it off each time. Quite annoying. :thumbsdow

i used to own a viper but it sucks...

i just started to go with compustar...and just love it...got it on my civic and did it for my parent's Rav4 last year.... no problems of course not...

just love the whole system itself...bit pricey but worth it in my opinion

Straight up install, Compustar is my fave. But I'm biased :)

Best systems period are combo GPS/alarm/immobilizers like LoJack. Not many people want to spend the cash, but if you want the best of the best with tracking and recovery, there's nothing better.

I've had compustar for the last few years and I love it, I wouldn't go to anywhere else. I looked on the lojack site and from what it seems they don't have it in Alberta, just BC and some other provinces.

Yeah, but there's another brand that operates here. I can't remember the name right now. Deals mostly with fleet stuff.

Compustar is main stream and heavily favoured because of the remote start feature, but the absolute best car allarm out there is Clifford, they're igher end stuff does not have the pretty remote that compustar has but the features are unmatched

I heard, from a customer, that Quinn was good. Is that the place near deerfoot mall?

If this is for your BMW then you don't really need an after market immobilizer because from what i recall the Z4's have an immobilizer built in from factory. Alarm on other hand would be nice cause most bmw models don't have the factory alarm as standard equipment, not even on 60K bmw's. :thumbsdow

Compustar or Clifford alarms systems.

The new Compustar Pro P2W900FMR by far is one of the alarms with the most functions and possibly add-on availabilities. Compustar has a function that other alarms don't, which is "Car Check" Checks the status of your car without having to turn your alarm off or unlocking your doors.

Edit: Also keep in mind, an alarm is only as good as the installation.

I've had 3 compustar alarms in all my cars and I've got nothing but good things to say about it. You can set the sensitivity of the alarm so it's not too sensitive to things like motorbikes. At the same time, you can set it so that if someone slams the trunk, the alarm would set off.

I would vote for both compustar and viper. I own both, and they both work well.

Viper is owned by Directed Electronics, i think they bought out Clifford a few years ago....so it should be very similar to Viper products.

Thanks guys for the responses. Compustar seems to be the way to go, I'll check into Clifford.

Luxor: thanks for the help, you right the Z4 already has an alarm, but it wont protect againest vandalism, or people trying to cut in through the roof, which is what happened quite recently, unfortunatey. (That was a fun way to light a match to $1500 for a new canvas roof, thanks theif!! :banghead: )It only protects if someone opens the locks without the key etc. So if somebody hucks a 40 pound stone at the car or the windows are smashed: it wont do a damn thing, unless their stupid enough to open the doors/trunk/hood afterwards, only then will the alarm sound.

Thanks Bos-DC2, I'll check into that specific model

403Civic, I've had my alarms done by Ringo at Grand car audio (check whitepages.ca), as he does great work, and is quite helpful. I'll probably be going to him again for this one.

Thanks to everybody else that replied, much appreciated.

Try rs 2way from xscargo. i got it and it is the complete package. starter /alarm 2000 feet range and get this, 2 lcd 2way remotes. and car check too. its going for 97.00 there right now. my opinion, its the best bang for your buck.
