LF: reliable and good gas milage car under $3000

hey all,

I'm looking for a cheap car that's reliable for my gf. she just got a new job and will be commuting from the SW to the NE everyday, and my car is a pig on gas, so I was hoping to find somehting for her that is decent on gas.

let me know what you guys have, willing to pay a bit more for a good deal.
