Is anyone doing this or have they, or are they thinking about it?

I've been thinking about it for sometime now, but I've never been able to run before because of my knee probs (patellafemoral syndrome) and my asthma kills me when I do outdoor activity. I REALLY want to try it though because apparently running is highly addictive... I want to become an addict!

Yes, I've had it for a year now. Roopi also was looking for people. The three of us could probably start some kind of challenge.

It does get pretty addicting, as you post all your runs, and you can see where you place with everybody else in the world.

Send me a PM and we can setup a challenge.

I know Hoagie uses his almost religiously, he was doing some nike+ challenges already. I'm sure he'd be in for a challenge, and as soon as the iPhone is compatible, I'm in too.

Running IS addictive.... after doing it for a few months (at least a once a week)you will feel the need to run if you go without it for a while.

I don't think I'm ready for a challenge yet, although I guess it would be good to be accountable. I have yet to get the equipment but I'm gonna head to the Chek with my discount sometime next week probably.

Running makes you feel pretty amazing. I too have the Nike+. I have them in my Zoom's...but man it would be sweet if they fit into the free's. I have been running less and less over the years, also because of my knees. Back in the day I used to do track, but now I kind of run for that feeling afterwards. The you are exausted, but could go fight the world feeling is awesome.

There's a pair of Free's that are Nike+ now. It's on www.nikeplus.com under the gear section. I have a pair of zooms as well.

I think you can ge the Nike+ sport band, and you can use that with the running chip, instead of an ipod.

If you have bad knees, and you still want to be active, then i would recommend doing laps at the pool. Both my brothers run, the one makes a pretty decent living off of it, but its very bad on the tendons and cartilage. My bro has had several surgeries because of this.

Also you don't even need an iPod Nano anymore. Nike has come out with a sportband.

I started off the couch 1.5 years ago not being able to run a block and just finished my first half-marathon last week.

The Garmin 305 gps + heartrate monitor is my fav training tool, as long as you don't do a lot of indoor track running (even if you do you can get a foot pod attachment as well). But the HR monitor is definately a valuable tool to see what you're really doing/pushing.

Also get your first few pairs of shoes at a dedicated running store so they can figure out whether you pronate or not. Bad shoes will end your running real quick.

If you're worried about injury/damage from running volume consider triathlons as you get swimming and biking to balance your workouts and less likely to get bored. A bit expensive though.
