I seem to remember reading something about any scanner would need to be digital to pick up anything in the city now...does anyone have a scanner or know anymore information than this?

Yeah. YOu can pick up ems and firedept, but u need a scanner with trunk tracking technology, to pick up police, if it will be at all possible you will need a uniden bc 250d with digital card. that will set you back prolly around 1000$cdn or a bit more. If you need anymore info, let me know

NOt for tickets man. Their mostly for entertainment. Listen to a scanner one night, and u'll know what i'm talkin about.

Calgary is the only city in Canada to use APCO 25 digital encryption, so yes, you WILL need an APCO 25 digital card, which is around $500 if I'm not mistaken.

I used to love listening to my scanner, I would fall asleep to it EVERY night.
Too bad digital costs sooo much :(
