To be honest... I don't think it's a BMW... or a newer Volkswagen.

A BMW E36 has a 5x112 bolt pattern if I'm not mistaken... where as the MK4 Jetta's have 5x100. The wheels you see in the picture are just 4-bolt. Which might suggest a MK3 or MK2 Volkswagen. But I dunno... I can't really tell anymore! lol

Hope everyone inside survived... guess we'll never know... even though it's unlikely they did.

Is that real or photochopped?? The tree looks kinda small to cause that much damage on a car..

The gas tank lid on an E36 is also kind of squarish shaped, not circle either.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Mid 90's Escort. The gas cap is on the other side on the escorts though... but wasn't sure if euro's on the right side.

I don't think it's chopped. I've been in a car accident where a tree much smaller then that wrote off a car with little damage to the tree besides some chipped bark.

everyone in the pic seems to be looking at something other than the huge car wreck...

Something about the outline of the car near the Hatch looks funny.. Either that or i need a better graphics card.. Lines are too sharp... don't really blend with the background... no wait that's a door.

Yeah, I was thinking that too - It's obviously chopped. How could a small tree like that do so much damage?

It looks like a Chop to me...

No one's looking at the car, and it just seems out of place...

At first I thought it was chopped and I noticed the people looking away but what if the front of the car sheared off and rolled further on and that's what the people are looking at?

I also say Escort

if its a euro "scort" then the gas tank would most likely be on the right side. USDM and CDM escorts were just hatchback mazda protege's. The euro cars were a completely different platform and car, aside from a few styling cues.

1. it is in fact a Euro Ford Escort

2. I also think it is a chop, as there seems to be no tread marks on the grass leading up to the tree.

I was tempted to use the word tool ahaha

There is a mud splotch to the left which could be some messed up tracks...also I don't think there is enough depth to really see any tracks?

EstoMax
08-20-2003, 09:38 PM
by the look of the car there dont need to be tracks cause the car is messed up so bad it prolly flew off the road into that tree without touching the ground

besdies the bark is broken in the right place and look at the grass near bottom left wheel its over it.. someone musta taken a long time to carefully chop this if they did but it seems real to me.

I dont see why everyone was so ignorant at the fact that a few peple said the tree was too small to do that much damage...and I just about lost it when everyone said <whiney voice> photoshop!!! </whiney voice> Trees always win gentleman, that tree is a good 8 inches in diameter ANYWAYS, and they are in the ground with a huge amount of roots. Go learn about trees before you call bs on every picture on the net. That tree is way stronger than a lamp post and will destroy a car that hit it at obviously triple digit speed, and at that speed its VERY likely its gonna get airborne, if any of you have seen how vehicles react at high speed instances where you lose control, they tend to hop and skip accross the ground, hense the shape of the car that is still on the tree. He probably left the road and his horizontal velocity carried him into the tree without a loss in altitude from th road height. Also, where the hell is the rest of the car, more importantly the "engineered life space" of the vehice where the occupants would be, that probably what everyone is looking at as someone mentioned earlier, look at the parts littering the back ground under that hatch, thats the direction where the cocpit would have come to rest be, and I wouldn't be surprised if they lived (provided there was no one in the back seats, as it looks to hve struck in the c-pillar area, so the front clip would be almost intact... You gotta know more about the accident instead of relying on ONE picture...

Looks like a Escort to me also.

Dood.. Why you so fired up?? All people are entitled to their opinions wrong or right. And truthfuly relying on that ONE pic I'd say it was chopped. But the good people showed me otherwise..

Now how about a SMACK!!!:poosie:
