How many have you painted in that garage? We used to do something similar, but after a job or two you realize how much mess there is, dust on everything, over spray covering everything.. So we started getting plastic sheet, covering the area around the car during paint, and we installed a furnace blower motor to remove the dust... Bugs are the worst once mosquito season comes. you have to keep it sealed up and run that fan for a while before you start so it sucks the bugs out.

:dunno: there is some dust on the car right now but were planing to buff it after to remove the dust and polish it. that will remove i guess. :D :D

after we painted 3 coat we wet sand it with 2000 to remove the dust, then another one coat paint then 2000 wet sand again. then leave it like 2 days then spray the clear coat. but we wipe it really good with that special clothe that we bought from calgary paint job then spray the clear coat :dunno:

wow i would have wanted that decal taken off, as well as everything else like the lights, hood, wheels ect. If he ever sells that car or if the decal starts to peel off, the old color will show through lol. It takes 2 minutes to heat up a decal long enough to just peel it off effortlessly.

It looks good for what you had to work with. I think the owner is going for the jdm look with the gas cap, i know they make a CF trd one. Kinda dumb painting it black though, stands out in a bad way.

That gas cap makes it look ghetto.

RedCivic
05-05-2008, 01:20 AM
i told him that. rather that painting it black just buy a cf one, and he said oh no its ok thats how i like it. he doesnt like cf hood or gas cap. :dunno: cant do anything about it right its not my car!

haha yeah i know what you mean. How old is the owner?
Also curious what something like this would cost.. was it just done over the weekend?

RedCivic
05-05-2008, 01:28 AM
his 20+ :dunno: it took us 2 weekends to finish it and we are 3 of us doing it. the owner my other friend and me! :D

He doesn't really seem to care much about his car...

RedCivic
05-05-2008, 01:32 AM
he does... its just how he likes it. not taking off the decal, paint the hood and gas cap black instead of gettin a cf

we even painted the rims and tires for not covering it because he said he will replace it anyways so he doesnt care. :dunno:

That gas cap totally ruined the paint scheme. What kind of tool would rather leave a dealer decal on than spend 5 mins. to remove it?
To the painter you should have removed it anyways because when you post shit like that it just shows you really don't care either.:dunno:

wtf??? we painted the car with the owner and before we painted it the car, we told him many times that we should take off the decal but he said he doesnt want to take it off he doesnt care if its there so what can we do about it if the owners like it that way? and about the gas cap we told him to buy a cf one instead of painting it black and he said noh i dont like cf i like black. so we painted it black.

We just follow what he want because its his car not ours. but if that was my car i would rather buy a cf gas cap or either painted same color with the body and i would 100% take off the decal if its my car... so before you say shit about the painter you should ask first.

Easy there fella. I understand that the owner didn't care but obviously he wasn't all there, so you being the professional you are should have made it clear to him that he will never be able to take that decal off or if it peels he's fucked. I mean if my painter told me i'd have to get my whole back end painted if that decal ever peeled i'm pretty sure i would spend the 5 minutes to take it off. Do you have any pics of the owner to help me understand this situation better?

At the shop I work at, WE control the quality of work , not the customer, just for this very reason. It makes YOUR work look like ass. And don't think the customer is going to cover your ass when people ask "who did your paint job?"

Taking decals off takes two minutes, putting a piece of paper over wheels is just another two. If you tape off the whole wheel well it can stop dust from getting into the paint too.

:thumbsdow

his not my customer and we dont work at the shop and we both all know that we are not professional. I know not taking off the decal and painting the rims isnt good, but what can we do???

when i told him that you should take off the decal he said he likes it that way and he actually put cover on the rims but when we spray the paint with the aircompresor it blew it away and he said oh its ok ill change the rims anyaways.

what are you talking about? we painted his car in his own garage and he was there the entire time. if you go back and take a look at the pics there a guy wearing a black pants and thats him and why are you saying he wasn't there? your the one who wasnt there. why are you assuming the owner wasn't there? what are you trying to say?.....
