Question about $CND->$USD cheque

Hey, I am buying a car in the states in about 7 days, and I am just getting all the paper work ready and getting ththe cheque in US funds. I have been told it is cheaper to get the cheque privately, as in not from a bank.

Where would you recommend I take my CND money to get a US check for around 10 grand?

My bank only charges me about $10.00, I can't imagine it's really worth shopping around for a cheaper alternative... you could also wire the money, it's very secure and more likely to be acceptable to the receiving party.

i would still say that bank.
Call around, i was asking a week or so ago and was getting very good rates, and that was when the dollar was a little lower than it currently is. Just get a certified bank draft in US dollars and ask for the final amount.

thanks for the help guys, I called around a bit and it is only like $7.50 at a bank... for some reason I Was thinking like $30 per thousand fee or something. Thanks again.
