I recently bought a samsung DVD car deck Deck (http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/Mobile-Video/DVD/model.CQ-VD6505U_11002_7000000000000005702) at car audio gone wild and i was told a few things im not sure about. I currently have a 2002 grand am and i was told i need a wiring harness which costs about 200$. Another person said it was 70, and one other said i didnt need a harness.. does anyone know what i have to do if my car stereo is completly stock as of now?

Go to Canadian Tire and buy the Wiring Harness specific to your vehicle...should be $69.99 or around there...it will make your aftermarket deck install easier

If you dont know anything about car installs then the wiring harness is a must, if not, get a wiring diagram for your car and start splicing

i believe grand am's have an external amp that u'll have to bypass, hence why ppl are telling u that u have to pay for extra wiring...

figure out what u need from here http://www.installer.com/wires/

Does yours have the monsoon system?

I knew I had it somewhere...

Or save some money and just put ur factory HU in the trunk (then you won't need a harness to keep your chime and warnings; don't get fooled when you try scaring you about air bags going off and shit like that)

You're in Sherwood Park? Method Acoustics (next to the Fir Street bottle depot) will take care of you :) I'm usually there in the evenings.

Thanks Tom!

You do need a harness, and a dash kit, I believe. With the newer Pontiac (or any GM) vehicle, we have to check as sometimes the OnStar is routed through the deck. We might even have one in stock, otherwise we can have it in this week. Come by and we'll hook you up.

Monsoon system needs a harness I believe cuz of the amp. I had a grand am and knew the insides and out of it as I heavily modded it (i sold it to some guy last year, red with 19s, cf hood, some people seen it, i haven't seen it on the streets since i sold it). I didn't have monsoon system btu i read alot about people who had it. Airbags won't be a problem, only problem is the chimes. You can either go without the chimes or get an expensive harness which reproduces the chimes for you
