I've gone over the GDL limit. 18 points I've racked up. No need to say, i'm a tool this or that I've heard enough, just looking for an honest answer.

How long will the suspension be?

Not to sound like a complete dick: I'm sure the suspension won't be long enough. You're how old, on graduated licensing, and you've already managed to lose your license/rack up 18 points?
I'd say call U of C legal aid, or maybe a registry and ask them what the penalty will be.
:drama:

I didn't ask what you thought about the situation. I want to know how long it will be before I can race my car again on city streets. :drama:

It's not like you need a license to be in a car...no one would ever know. So I say fuck it all, stop being a pussy and race cuz no one can stop a street racer.

Get legal help to try and lowerthose 18 points. 18 points will haunt you for a LONG time. I'm having problems with my 7 lol

Not long enough. Perhaps you should look into driving school, other than teaching you how to drive, which clearly you need a refresher course on, it will look better in court....

Wasn't trying to be funny...

Honestly though, it varies depending on the severity of the "charges" I guess. I don't think anyone can give you a straight answer, as It depends on your situation, i would say anywhere from 30 days to a year.

Can my probationary license be suspended?

Yes. GDL has reduced the number of demerit points allowed to 8 during the probationary stage, and will result in a one month suspension if this limit is reached.

Man how the fuck did you manage to get 18 pts on a GDL licence when your only allowed 8 before it gets suspended?!?!??

If you've already had it suspended then I would assume this time is either 6 months or a year.

I had 6 from a few months ago. For a u-turn and head lamps being off. Than the other night I got the 6 points speeding and 3 point red light. The next day I got another red light ticket. (this one i will be able to fight tho, he said I came to a stop at a red light when i was turning left at a solid green, i had to wait for some douche who was flying down the hill and by the time he got past the light was red, so i went threw, if i would have stayed in the middle i'd be opstruction traffic)

I believe it is 1 month, but then you have to get your license reinstated, ie take a test. It does not automatically become activated after the suspension.

Sorry if i read this wrong but you get demerits from a red light camera? or were you caught by an officer?

no it doesn't work like that. demertes are not applied to a license until you pay/fight the ticket. so you have about 3 months before they are applied if you don't do anything.

also it's the person's responsability to know if he is over the limit. The system could very well show that he is suspended and if he is stopped he will get a court appearance for driving while suspended, have his car siezed for 30 days, and if the cop phones his insurance company, hwill find out he is not covered and a ticket for no insurance and his policy cancelled. Then good luck ever finding coverage again.

I can give you a straight answer, but I need two things.
1. Is this your first suspension?
2. Were any of the tickets drinking related?

I call :bullshit: for a few reasons.

1.) You would not get demerits for the burnt out headlight, it is a vehicle violation not a moving violation.

2.) Improper turns, U-turns 29, 30 2 (section, demerits) so there is no way you got 6 demerits unless you had 3 u-turns in a row.

3.) Red light cameras and Photo Radar are the same as #1 so you wont get demerits for that, because there is no way to PROVE who was driving.

4.) Speeding over 50KM/H is for 6 demerits, that better be on the highway otherwise I will beat your ass in.

So hence why I think your full of it, I await your rebuttal.

If you get your GDL licence reinstated after it being suspended do you have 8 demerit points again?

Destinova403
05-16-2008, 04:27 PM
no... you get it back with 3 gone so 5 left I THINK

And I was just going to mention:

http://www.fleetsafetyinternational.com/courses.html?CATEGORY=Cars&COURSE=000003

It's an online safety course that, once complete, provides you with a certificate that you can take to any registry and they'll knock off 3 demerit points.

You can do something like this once every two years (I think).

Anyways, might be useful to someone else.

Cheers!

^^This poster is correct you can go and take a defensive driving course and they will knock off a few demerits. I think that you should go and do this to lower your demerit counts, but stop driving like a douche would work too.
