i was planning on going to seattle for a few nights. The question here is can i get over the border without my passport and just with my birth certificate and government issued ids. I was reading a while back that the law of needing a passport has been delayed. anybody with some up to date information on the current status?

You only need passports by air travel. Land and sea, you're only required birth certificate and gov't I.D.

My wife and I just drove down to Montana in March. Went across the border without even a picture ID for her. just Birth certificate and I had my drivers license. Neither of us have passports.

Absolutely no problem whatsoever. took about 15 seconds.

"where are you heading"

"we're going to Whitefish for the weekend. but my wife only has birth Cert. and no drivers"

"no problem....have a nice weekend"

And away we went.
