looks like a stainless steel type of filter.
are they safe for you engine?

I heard that dry cone filters are better/safer for vehicles because you don't have to re-oil them like wet filters.

When you re-oil, there is a chance some could be sucked into the intake and cause problems.

The only way I could see it messing something up is if you got the maf wet, which would be tricky.

Every car on the road has a paper filter. No different if it's a cone shaped one, as long as it's a decent quality.

these arnt paper though... it looks like a stainless steel woven mesh... dont know if they are tight enough to catch dirt.

Most likely stainless steel mesh with paper on the inside of the mesh.

Apex filters are dry and I believe someone did a filter test and it came out on top. I ran one in my Eclipse and had no issues.
