I'd be careful to have it fully checked out. MB reliability is not exactly stellar anymore. It is probably on par with domestic brands, so you should be cautious, especially with the 3.2L engine (although it isn't supercharged so it should be in better shape).

AMG probably means an AMG appearance package and/or AMG rims.

check the door handle sticker to see if it was made by daimler-benz or damiler-chrysler

somewhere inbetween 99 and 00 the merger happened and reliability went down :P

All CLK 430's come with the AMG appearance package. This includes different side skirts, differnet front & rear bumper, AMG wheels and an AMG exhaust tip.

The 3.2L V6 is fairly bulletproof. Not sure if the CLK is affected (fairly sure), but there's a class action lawsuit settlement with the 3.2L motors... something like 7 or 10 year warranty. What happened was Mercedes Benz changed the oilchange interval to much longer because they switched to synthetic Mobil1 for changes, but they forgot to notify the dealers to use synthetic oils. So some ppl experienced oil breakdown which caused problems.
