Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

My mama recently bought a 325XI (an 03). I think that gives it the M54B25 engine? Anyway she's all confused and up in the air about what kind of gas she should put it in -- regular, premium, etc. What's the minimum octane or best for her to use, so I can tell her and she'll be quiet about it? :p

I couldn't pull it up with a Google search, unfortunately. I don't think she has the owners manual.

midgrade will work just fine if she's in Calgary. I used that in my 06 330I

but really as it is, VS. regular the savings arent that much, compared to midgrade, its even less, is it worth saving enough for a coffee once a week?

I'd rather use the proper fuel than try and save a couple cents per litre and risk something going wrong.

It wasn't about the savings for me. My car ran better on midgrade fuel, I had better mileage and no loss in power, no codes, no misfires.

At our altitude where DA is usually 4000ft+ N/A motors make a lot less power than at sea level.

Right now I only use premium for the GTI though.

Definitely use premium, don't try and cut corners.

Your octane requirement goes DOWN as your elevation goes UP, all else being the same.

I'll make her use premium. I think she JUST saw the "premium" on the gas cap. Oh silly mama, if only you knew how to take care of a car, haha.

Thanks guys, it's appreciated. :closed:
