I currently have a few different tattoo's but I want to get a half sleeve on my right arm.

Doing my other tats were easy as they were a single design, however I dont even know where to begin on this thing, I am an engineer not an artsy guy.

I already know where I am getting it done I just haven't had time to swing by yet.

Where did you guys begin to get the ideas for your sleeves?

Have you talked to your tatty artist yet? My guy in Airdrie is amazing , and is the most artistic guy ever!!

So you want a tat for the sake of having a tat?

No better place than an import car forum to get ideas for your ink.

How about 'JDM 4 LIFE"

I dont want one for the sake of wanting one, I am looking to get a cover up because the one I have there I wasn't happy with. I had an idea about it but it hasn't worked out in prelim sketching.

best you sit down with your artist and have a chat, try and bring a few ideas to the table as well of what you would like done.

dunno if you would like to check an artist at the Calgary tattoo convention.
http://www.calgarytattoos.com/

*edit*this guy will be at the convention apparently
http://www.taututattoo.com/welcome.htm looks like some decent work

Ditto for me, he has done 3 out of my 4, I worked with him at Calgary Harley and was getting them from him when he was doing them out of his basement.

Awesome guy, is just getting better and better since he got his new shop. Really recommend him to anyone looking for someone. Good rates there and great people.

a lot of people get tattooed for the art. there are soo many different designs, styles, themes of tattoos, each tattoo artist has a specialty area.

its not just about having a tat, you're showing off someones artwork, thats how i see it. I'm getting my tattoo designed by a friend, how great would that feel for the artist to have his piece of work on someones body for the rest of their life?

Just make sure its something that has meaning to you, it drives me nuts when people get tats just because they look cool. When you're 85 you'll probably have a different idea of what looks cool lol.
One of my best friends got the majority of his full sleeve done by James Tex at Deadly Tattoos, and its beyond good.

and see I have a cross with wings on my right arm. I got it when I was 18 and was a skater and going to church.

My thought at the time was if I stop going to church I will at least always be a skater, seemed like a safe bet at the time. :banghead: If anyone was a skater before, it is a jamie thomas deck.

I then wanted to get my family crest overtop but I would have to get laser removal of it first then re-tattoo over it. So I have a few idea's but because I have a solid black cross I need to get ideas on how to work around it.

Who does this guy in Airdrie work out of?

james is a friend of mine. and i can never say enough about his artwork. i know everyone loves to say how great their artist is, especially on beyond. if i were to ever get a tattoo he would be one of a few people i would let ink me. (other than the dutchman and horiyoshi III)

Got mine done by Tex too. I booked it a year in advance when he was at Bushido. I wouldn't go anywhere else either. Though I've considered the Dutchman as well.

His artwork is second to none IMO.

Not my tattoo, but as bad ass as they get!

Mine's been done for over a year now. Here is a pic. Skull mouth looks more bad ass when I lean over, the position I was in when he tranfered the outline.

I'll be extending this for sure. Need to lose a pound or two first though :P
