View Full Version : Curry powder tasts powdery - ideas?

I'm a white guy who really likes indian food, and I go out for it at least once a month. However, I like cooking so I've been making it at home. Whenever I use the canned sauces, like pataks from co-op, it turns out ok.
However, when I use the powdered yellow curry spice, it never seems to re-hyrdate properly and leaves a powdery taste in my mouth.

Anyone have a reccomenation for a curry powder or paste that doesn't do this?

There's lots of different ethnicities on this board, so I'm hoping there is some "authentic" solution. Also, I'm in the North east pretty often, so I can do my shopping up there.

Buy "gitz" products, they're awesome and very easy to make.
Checkout some east indian stores.
