Not sure if there are any PR people out there on Beyond but I have had a couple of offers for PR jobs and am debating them now.

Offered Media Relations Coordinator for West Edmonton Mall and Media Relations Coordinator for The Calgary Stampede.

West Ed pays slightly higher and is permanent and Stampede is summer with a chance of permanency after. I currently work part-time in PR for the Calgary Flames and personal train as well. I enjoy that a lot. My ultimate career goals are to work in hockey management in the NHL or run my own business (perhaps in PR or even the fitness industry).

I would tend to think West Ed offers more experience and will be more attractive on my resume as I am the only PR person for the mall...I am the spokesperson and main point of contact there...but it of course means relocating to Edmonton.

The Stampede will provide good exposure to the industry as well but not in the same fashion. I originally declined their offer as it was lower compensation, so they called back the next day offering over $4000 more per annum and the Media Relations Specialist title instead of coordinator. I imagine I could convince West Ed to bump the title up to Media Relations Manager or Director at some point as well. It is not a huge deal breaker but does look better on the resume for potential employment later.

The last thing that is giving me trouble is I am 31 and pretty soon I will be looking to settle down with a career/family etc...and I have been outside of Canada/US once - to Mexico and I really feel I should travel a little before its too late and I may regret not doing it later.

Thanks all

Then you should go; otherwise it might be at the back of your mind, all the time...
