I know squat about evos but I see them all the time down here... some extremely aggressive ones too, like that one... didn't know it was a big thing.

In the States, anyone who has the cash can buy one; hence why you see them all the time. Here in Canada, however, there were only a handful of EVO IX's that were allowed in.

I know there's one here in Calgary, legally registered (the guy's on Beyond too but can't remember what his username off the top of my head). This one's probably the one from Regina, which as I recall, was originally purchased from a guy in Winnipeg.

EDIT: Nevermind, it was the EVO VIII that I was thinking about, not the IX...

I think the owner is 4Warned...
I'm only saying that as per the posts in here:
http://forums.beyond.ca/st/194361/fs-only-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-ix-in-canada/

It does say he own's a white one.. but in Calgary though.

It's mine, I'm the fat old guy in the pic. I was pulled over today for speeding, what a surprise! The cop didn't have radar/laser so he was nice enogh to give me a $402 ticket for reckless driving. What a nice guy! Dont bother flaming me I know I am the devil for speeding in Calgary.

Oh and that is CK4500 in front of me taking it like a champ.

Is the government still looking at changing the bumper regulations? If so these might become legal to import.

Yes, but there are some rebuttals to the proposed change. There is a good thread about it in the "automotive news" section.

The OP should blur out the plate #.

Yep, not to cause a problem for the lucky owner but i'd like to see his RIV sticker on the door jamb......just because SKI (Sask Registries) put a plate on this car doesn't make it legit...

but i do agree in that the car looks awesome in white (maybe i'm biased)....

P.S. can someone do the owner a favour and get the plate blurred out...???

Plate pic should be removed by the OP or a mod imo unless people think it'll be fun to try and cause unnecessary problems for the owner because they have nothing better to do.

If he drives on the road what difference does is make if the plate is blurred or not on a website. The car still has to be registered and insured so I"m guessing its street legal and was allowed into Canada before the regulation changes. And what unnecessary problems will be created? The car is driven on public roads.

Unlikely, since the regulation changed before this car existed.

I hear your point, but what if jagoff Cop from Saskachewan happens to read beyond, or come across those pics, and think "Oh that car, fuck he was speeding back when", there is his plate. Or there might be some dork with access to the system and could track down the car.... It is just a courtesy thing.

basically, sask insurance had the evo on file... so yay, it's registered, but there isn't an import sticker on the door jam.

Hmm, that is very nice of people to be concerned for someone who apparently might have a car with no Transport Canada sticker... However, if the present owner decides to sell it one day and the next Canadian owner buys it in good faith not knowing the RIV rules and subsequently loses it because TC comes down and confiscates the car.... how would you feel then about protecting the identity of this car?

If this is actualy an EVO IX and the present owner decided to take the risk of buying it knowing its status, that is one thing and I must say; I admire the size of his balls!, since he runs the risk of loosing the car, but what if he sells it to another unsuspecting buyer?

Every one here should be more concerned about making sure we are all well informed about what is out there so that we don't have any nasty surprises.
As for the owner; well, I am sure he knows the risks he is taking, that should not be our concern.

Respectfully, you missed the point in regards to the posting of plates online.

I do agree about the next purchaser and future problems, but everyone should be educated and research prior to acquiring any car.

Hi rmk,

NO worries, I don't think anyone is disrespectful just because they don't agree with my views, we are just chating here.

But no, I did not missed the point, I just happen to be one who believes no one should have any problems having their plates on this or any other forums unless they are doing something illegal.

I agree with "not doing research before buying should be no excuse" but just think of how many used US cars are being sold daily here in Canada and how few, if any, have the unique and peculiar circumstances the EVOs have with some being ok and some not. How many average joes would even imagine that a car that was previously plated and registered in Canada might still be illegal?

These are just my views, I don't expect everyone to agree but as you said... if ignorance for the law is no excuse, on which side of the equation is this EVO IX driver? ignorant with no excuse or he knowingly did what he did, in which case why should we be concerned with protecting his plates... not to mention the fact that my original comment was more of a smart ass remark than a serious comment.
