Manual Transmission. What could be some possible causes? is it easy to fix?

Thanks,

no not the knob.

the stick.. you know how it moves left and right.. for older cars and it's pretty solid on new cars?

i'm thinking it's just the seal or something, but just not sure.

Its most likely the bushing underneath that connecting to the shift linkage. If so, you can just buy new ones at the dealer, or buy a short shifter kit which will come with some new ones. Its like a rubber washer/o-ring.

^^ That's most likely the problem.

I drive a DC, and share the same shift setup as your EG. Most parts are identical all the way from the change rod to the throw shifter itself. When I bought my car, the shifter was "wobbly" and it had lots of play between gears.
I bought a short shift kit, and when I took everything apart, I made sure to clean everything I could. The kit gives you plenty of new things to replace too. Now it's mint, and drives better than it ever has.

They are dirt cheap for a poly shifter bushing kit. They can be had at Mopac for like $20 or less.....energy and hurst make them
