Any of you guys actually shipped wheels before? I'm curious about what my options are. I know there are the typical UPS, FedEx, Purolator, etc. But I have used freight companies in the past as well.

I'm looking to ship 4 wheels with tires to Eastern Canada (Quebec in particular). Do I need to package them up nicely? What are typical rates?

Thanks in advance

I shipped a set. 2 per box with cardboard separating the rims and a little wrap around the lips.
I also found shipping packages like that to be easier, faster and cheaper using Greyhounds courier service

I'll never use UPS or FedEx to ship wheels again. I've had wheels "lost", and most end up coming back damaged. Best part is they never assume any responsibilty, no matter how well they're packed.

Never had a problem with greyhound, might want to try them.

when 1010 tires ship, they put a round cardboard cutout on each wheel, and sort of ship them each as 1 package I think (but they did show up as a set of 4)..

You can get boxes and put rims in there but you will have to ship them as 4 separate packages. UPS works really good within Canada, just like within the US, and Canada Post is probably the cheapest.

Shipping rims will run you $50-$70 each depending on weight, rims without tires would typically run about $50 each, again it all depends on weight rather than size of the package.

I just had my Work Emotion xd9's (18x9+43) come in from the east coast USA. The company used was UPS.
Total brockerage fees were $130 (which was for all 4 rims). Shipping price not sure as it was a total package deal. Got a way better price than local stores, and didn't have to take 2 months to come from Japan through a custom order.

Then I ordered tires through 1010 tires.
-localy were $220/tire
-1010 tires had them for $140/tire
