So this Monday, its my friends birthday, I drive to his place and park my car, 1pm. We take my other buddies SUV and are out all day. 15 Hours later of drinking and partying all night long, we come back 6am. As we roll up I look ahead to where my car should be, not there. Theres a black jetta parked exactly where my car should be parked. I've been awake some 20 hours now, tired as **** from being out all night. And think Im just seeing things. I look again as we get closer and for sure its a jetta.... So I instantly panic, I ask my friend, this is where I parked right? He looks at the jetta, oh ****...

So the car was stolen. I called up the police , insurance, report everything etc. All being awake for some 20 hours already, and this is the last thing I wanted to have happen. So im a lil bummed cause I think just now the reality set in, that I lost my car. I had no alarm on it, as I've had the car since 2001 and never had a problem anywhere with it, until now. I had about $1600 worth of stereo equipment in it. Year and a half old JDM H22 with prolly 80k km on it. $1500 worth of suspension work. Brand new rotors and pads put on it. Not to mention my $200 spy optic sunglasses that I bought 2 years ago that I've managed to keep intact since I seem to break mine all before it. JDM Headlights. Full 3inch exhaust for my turbo setup... tons of work on the car.

All said and done, I think I am going to get screwed on my insraunce too, I just don't see this ending good for me I have to dig up receipts and proof of purchase basically of what I had in the car.

Insurance said I have to wait 2 weeks before we start negiotiating anything.

Does anyone have any stories or experience of dealing with insurance companies?

Im a little reluctant to just give out my plate info on here, but I guess it can't hurt. YCA 680... I saw the car last at 4a ST SW where it was parked, just off Mcleod trail. It is 93 Honda Prelude SRV was black on black cloth interior, lowered, stock rims, kumho tires... Driver side impact damage behind the driver side door and large rust spot. 35% tint around. JDM headlights. Cleared rears. Loud noisy exhaust... If you see the car and can give any information, my name is Graham, and I can be reached at 827-8604.

I did not have the current rims on the car at the time it was stolen... but that is the most recent picture of the car...

This is a picture from years back before I did any suspension work and tint, however it has the stock rims on to give you an idea of what rims are on the car currently. Also the front corners are amber, but this gives you an idea of the side impact damage.

My guess is the car is long been stripped and gutted by now anyways so...

Sorry to hear, hope Beyond CSI spots it soon... looks like your avatar has a little pic of it. Can't believe people don't put an alarm on their Hondas, especially souped ones, any kid with a screwdriver can have that thing gone in 20sec :drama:

I've had the car for 7 years and never had a problem till now.

And the pic in my avatar isn't actually a pic of my car. However it looks the same... I have/had amber front signals tho.

Thats aweful..... I drive a b2200 that although is only worth about 2400$ (it has a cheap $600 stereo system in it), I still have an immobilizer alarm in it so that I dont HAVE to deal with insurance companies + the PITA of having to look for a new vehicle.

That sucks.
Well, 7 years ago, even 1-2 years ago wasn't the same as it is now. With all the posts of car thefts on Beyond, there's no excuse not to get an alarm.

If I see it, I'll call CPS, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up.

Unfortunately, not all car theft cases in Calgary end up like that Skyline :dunno:

sorry about your car, man! hope you find it soon! would insurance cover anything based on pix of your car that you've taken previously or would they just cover items to which you've got receipts for?

1st this is normal, it is because most vehicles are recovered within this time frame....If your veh is found, then your claim will proceed as normal, and u will not have to wait for full 2 weeks.

2nd All you guys that put all this "effort and money" in your stereos and etc., do not expect to get what you paid for that stuff like 5 years ago..pls look up the term DEPRECIATION.

People will not pay original purchase price for a vehicle from 2004...so why would you think that an insurance company would pay for your extras at original purchase price. If you don't have receipts, you are going to be SOL...if the items are over 5 years old...you are also SOL. This does not mean that you won't get anything for it, just that they will apply depreciation to these items. But there shouldn't be a deductible on your claim.

Oh I know everything is depreciated, Im just afraid that yes my car is stolen, and to even buy a new SRV is 10k, if they offer me 5k... thats 5k I LOSE. and my car and all the money put into the car so I lose more like 10k.... Then what ... What good is insuring it for theft then...

You need an appraisal to get what you put into it

Still no word... I checked impound lot today, nothing has shown up. One more week before I get to negotiate.

I personally would try not to settle for less than 7k (assuming the value is 10k like you're saying) but I think that's probably wishful thinking
