I've been thinking of doing this for a while. Does anyone know any good safe spots where we could go and slide around for a while? probably somewhere like a wearhouse parking lot or something. The pavment should be reletivly smooth. Day's like today would be great because of the rain. oh, and out of view of passing traffic.
I think it would be a lot safer and fun to do this somewhere open and free of people and other cars, rather then on public roads.

Any one interested or know any good spots?

You can try any outlying developing community where they have few houses being built and freshly paved asphalt.

OR

Maybe go out around Cochrane, just off 1A, they got lots of gravel roads to go sliding around on (Safari Rally!)

we definatly want pavement not gravel, but those development areas could be an idea, except not a lot of room for error andyou could hit the curb.

This is looking good so far

There's a huge plot of land next to the lake here that is undeveloped. It's fun to drift in the dirt when it's dry, and also when it's been raining because it turns to mud. I got the van stuck a couple days ago though; it took me about 15 minutes to drive it back out.

My parents always wonder why I bring the van back covered in mud.

But yea, this isn't a good place for nice cars, but if you have a beater and want to have some fun, this is a good place because it's not even a road with traffic laws..

....hehe ..who have you been talking too......I thought I really messed things up in penhold sunday night....for some reason the town puts narrow rain gutters that seperate the road at each intersection....I came into the corner doign about 70 and had it almost completely sideways, i totally forgot about the gutters and went right through it as I slid around the corner...the car bouced like crazy but I still managed to stay sliding sideways......I thought that after that I wasn't going to be able to get the wheels straight again but it all turned out fine...some punks on skateboards witnessed the whoel thing and gave me the thumbs up.... I think I'm ready for a drift meet.

One of my friends works for a company where they have big semi trailers pick up and drop off merchandise. One night we all went into the loading area (he's got keys to the yard) and had some drfiting fun in the lot. Damn big lot, as the semi's need manouverability to drive in and back into the bays. Was really cool, but very rough on the tires!

cool. I think we'd bring water in containers to help slide(there's probably not a hose near the spot.)

Would we be able to do that on a weekend?

Thanks, Graham.

No doubt, Anh, that little CRX was the slide king that night!

Graham, I'm not sure if he's gonna want to open it up for us like that again, but no harm in asking... I'll PM you when I know something.

I want to go too  ! I swear, Kenny and Rage2 have such a bad influence on me! I wish I could do half the things Rage2 does with his 320!! He's gotta give me some SLK drifting lessons! My goal is to have bald tires by the end of the summer so I can slide around like Kenny did b4 he got his new tires.

If people are worried about police scanning this board, we can start there at a pm specified time and date.

Also, GP_DrIvEr: can you please delete/edit your post to not include the location. People can now pm one of us if they want to know where it is.

Thanks Benny.
