Car Maintenance.

Just wondering how often you guys on here bring in your car for maintenance.

I'm personally going onto my 3rd scheduled maintenance and I've owned my car since April of this year :eek:

I think most dealerships reccomend every 3 months.

My car is in the shop all the time...it sees more than regular maintenance. Mind you thats a good thing...I have an oil change every couple thousand km, and make sure all is well.

My car gets done at the subaru recommended intervals, 6 months or 6000km, whichever happens first (generally the two seem to coincide most of the time for me).

In the past I was recommended servicing my car every 5,000 kms (the Infiniti) but with this car it's every 15,000 km. weird.

My mechanic does my oil changes and I'll bring my car for maintenance/tuneup once a year. Mind you half the crap they do is nothing, just looking here, looking there. And then charging $200+ which is a ripoff IMO. As my dad would say, bring it in when it breaks down.

i work on my own car, its WAY cheaper (and more frustraiting)

Oil / lube / filter every 4000 km using Mobil 1 synthetic oil.

5 speed transmission fluid change every 10 000 km.

Radiator coolant every year.

Power steering / brake fluid every year.

Fuel filter every 3 months.



And a couple other things I'm forgetting at the moment.

my car is cheating on me with the mechanics...every time i hear shit like...oh yeah i'm leaking oil, oh yeah he banged me so hard last night now i need an alignment, oh my power steering isn't right...

i do most my stuff myself as im what you might call, thrifty. oil every 5000k (regular) or about 10000 (synthetic). As for months, well i dont drive too much in summer but drive about 500km a week in winter, so it depends. i usually go on milage.

I usually take my car in for an oil change every 5000miles (8000kms), which is usually about every 2 months, haha.
