I snapped this pic in K-Country last week. It looked mint on the inside.

Any idea what year Porsche stopped making this body style?

Here's a shitty picture of a 1994 - looks exactly the same.

Hence why thats a shitt picture...the g series 911 as pictured above was produced until 88...while the 964 911 came out in 1989(my bad for saying 89 at the top of this thread)

Yeah that is a 930 chassis 911. Late eighties end of production.

Yet it's not... that's a 964, and I believe 964's ended in 1993. 1994 came the 993's. Porsche tried hard to keep the 911's looking the same over the years.

1993 911 Turbo 3.6... I believe that car was Will Smith's personal car.

930 FOR SURE (my dad has an 87). Last year 89.
964 was 90-94 (bad boys car).
993- 95-98 (ultimate aircooled engine of porsche history)

(all turbos of course)

I thought it was Euro Spec 964 Turbo S (read a magazine article on the 964 S and looks indentical to the Bad Boys car...could be wrong though). If you listen to the Bad Boys commentary, the director Michael Bay mentions that the movie was so strapped for cash that they used his own personal Porsche in the movie.

The 964 Turbo S was a 3.3L motor'd car. If I remember right, there's a scene in the movie where you can see the back of the car, and it shows the Turbo 3.6 script on the car.

How come the 3.6 came with less power than the 3.3?

The 3.3 turbo S was a "special edition" car. Only like 100 of 'em were ever made, and just for the european market.

I did a bit more research, and apparantly, there are 2 911 turbos in the movie. The first one was Michael Bay's car, used in the opening credits, with black calipers. This might be the 3.3 Turbo S that some of you guys are talking about. The rest of the movie, is a turbo 3.6 (signified by the red calipers). I remember hearing about that car belonging to Will Smith, but I could be wrong.

Guess I'll have to rewatch the movie tonite :).

there is that scene that is like etched in my head, when he squeals to a stop when martin lawrence drops a fry or whaever, and the camera is right at the wheel, and its a red caliper....so i think you're right rage.

It didn't....the 3.3 made 285hp (U.S) and 300hp (Euro) until 1989.

They used the same 3.3 turbo motor in the 964 chassis 1991-1992, but used some whizzy exhaust and the power was up to 330.

In 1993-1994 the Turbo 3.6 came with 360hp.

Better watch the movie again cause you remembered it wrong. It has black calipers....you can barely see them. Freeze frame on Chapter 1 on the DVD, 1:48 in...perfect shot of the brakes :)

LOL, I never used the zoom feature of my DVD player before this thread came up. Watched the movie and you are right, the opening credit Porsche has black calipers. Too bad in the opening sequence there is no clear rear shot of the car. There is later on when he pulls into the Martin's driveway where you can make out the Turbo 3.6 script. Also can make it out in the end chase sequence. Near the end (Chapter 24, 2:09) you can see the red calipers. Odd. It's been years since I watched this movie, details are hard to notice even when you know what they are. Anyways.....this thread went into a interesting direction, lol.

I *think* he was referring to the Turbo S... which was a special edition car in europe with 380hp from 3.3L.

I'm talking about the 1989 Porsche 911 for example.

The 3.3L made 282hp, while the 3.6L made only 247.

Pacman

The 3.6 that made 247 wasn't a turbo motor.
