Have gone to a couple placed since yesterday and none of them are serving tomatoes saying they have been given a notice of food poisoning caused by raw tomatoes, mostly related to the Roma kind.

Never thought I'd say this but a sandwich just isn't the same without tomatoes. Hopefully this isn't for long. Imagine a world without tomatoes,

Wonder where they are coming from? Mexico is my guess.

Just so you know, if tomatoes are labeled BC hothouse it doesn't mean they were started from seed in BC. Most of the hot house stuff is started in Mexico and shipped to greenhouse throughout North America.

So it will be interesting to see how many get pulled off the market.

Yeah A&W stopped serving tomatos a few days ago. I always pick them off my burger or ask for thme not to include it, warm mushy tomatos are :barf:

Taco time/taco bell might suffer more though, they have tomatos in pretty much everything on their menus.

It's the same situation as the spinach last year. Eventually it all works out.

Oh well, I'm all for the ban right now. I definately can't afford to get sick right now, even if it is just food poisoning and not as severe as samonella :(

Florida supplies the bulk of winter tomatoes for the East Coast. Next likely is probably Mexico and California.

McDonald's around here had pulled tomatoes from it's food items since this past weekend.

Its funny, I went to Mcdonalds on Sunday night and they put no tomatoes on my Angus burger. But I went on Tuesday and they put tomatoes on. Must have gotten a new shipment from a different supplier or something. No ill effects.
