This is a very good deal. Ive only seen it go on sale once maybe twice. $290 is a steal. FS (Edmonton south) do match TG, but we include the shipping price. If it is cheaper including shipping then the store manager would match. In most cases it was more expensive.

These speakers can be hooked up to the PS3, you just have to buy the wire. These speakers do not come with cables to connect it to the ps3.

But are these good for crisp sound?Or just major ass bass...contemplating these or a actual home theatre unit

These are awesome speakers for the price. Sound is crisp and clear with excellent bass with the 10" sub. On the back of the control unit, there's an optical, coax and mini-audio inputs. These are way better than the x-series from logitech.

These are good for a simple HT setup as you do not need a separate receiver/amp and it has the encoders built in.

Sorry to say the price is a bit high as if you are patient, they do go onsale between $200-250 from Dell (free ship) and FS/BB.

GL with the sale!

It has crisp sound, and lots of bass when you need it.

It is true they go on sale at BB/FS, but that is pretty rare. In the year I've been working at FS its only been on sale twice. Once was boxing day, and once again during march. Even though it was on sale it was $250. You probably can get it from dell with free shipping, but who likes waiting for shipping, not me!

Unless price is a major concern, piecing together even a reasonably cheap home theatre will blow these out of the water in every way (will be more than $260 though). The Z5500s are a nice setup perfect for playstation or computer, but I personally wouldn't consider them for home theatre use. My friend has the Z5500s and they don't play loud enough either in my opinion if you want to fill the room with sound watching a movie.

Strictly for computer speakers, the Z-2300s use higher quality speakers, but you don't get surround sound anymore.

$260 is a decent price for the 5500s considering you don't pay gst or shipping if applicable. Tigerdirect wants $62 to ship them which is a ripoff.
