My Fiance and I are looking for a place in Calgary, and are wondering with the increase in homes available for rent, if you can negotiate with the landlords on your rent? Are their asking prices firm on these sites, or are we able to work down? I don't want to offend anyone by making an offer and losing out on a potential property.

I have a few of my homes available for rent. What neighborhood are you looking to rent in and what is your price range?

were looking for a one bedroom condo, 1300 a month in the south, and i have looked at a number that are currently empty and the landlords seem to be pretty desperate to rent out...

One bedroom isn't that hard to find. Many who can't flip are renting out even at a loss just to wait for market to rebound.

A house with 2-3 bedrooms are tougher.

1300 in the south? You're gonna need to be more secific than that. Cause in most parts of the SE 1300 will get you a new 2 bedroom condo, but downtown, it'll get you a 1 bedroom.

When you go to look at the house, tell the landlord that you are looking for something a little cheaper and were wondering if he would consider lowering the price a bit. The ones who arent having many showings will most likely drop it. Ive had many people ask me that way and havent been offended yet.
